yes its timberland from Halo.

Very faithful to the original from what I can tell, flags are close enough that you can still cap it by running, or with vehicles (very good).

I did see some HOM while sniping from the blue base which was strange, only seemed to happen when I was fully zoomed in on the red base though.

Only hellbenders & scorpions available, and frankly this is fine and does not hurt gameplay at all, anything bigger / flying would un-balance the map imo.

A worthwhile download, keep em coming...

From the screenshots, this dosnt look much like the one from halo, and ive already see a VCTF-timberland on unrealplayground, now the reason why it dosnt look like the one from halo, is because of the middle screenshot, it just looks way to flat. so is this the same map from unrealplayground?

[Admin: Probably... the probablility of two different maps of the same name released around the same time is very slim. The probability that the author submitted it to both sites is very high. ]

Great map! Nice size, good vehicle choice and balance, good terrain.

This is more of a loose interpretation than a remake.... And if this map were transferable back into Halo for comparrison, the two only bear a general similarity to each other. Scale is a big problem here: The Halo map feels infinately larger, due to a combination of UT's Player / Vehicle movement speeds (in Halo, the Master Chief walks like he's packed his pants, or worse: as if he's John Dalton of Unreal 2 fame), but even then, I get the feeling that the map is still genuinely smaller than the rather expansive Halo Map on which it is based. The implication is that the map feels small enough to easily enroach on standard CTF territory.

The terrain is reasonable... Texture wise it is more detailed and less monotonous. But the general shape of the land isn't nearly as harsh as the Halo map, with a number of particuarlly large hills, reduced to the size of mounds. The water is a missed opportunity, due to the absence of a waterfall, which could have really boosted the awe of this map, and outdone the original's waterfall. Thankfully, the trees which ring the upper limits of the map are nicely done, and expose how ugly the original's were.

Sadly, the greatest problem IMO, is the source map. Halo maps aren't particuarlly jaw-droppingly detailed, clever or well designed. Because the author has stayed faithful to the idea of the original, all we are given is a two-tiered flag-closet for the base, and some bumpy terrain to drive the vehicles over. Also, The ethos behind any Halo map seems to be that you're hopeless without a Vehicle, but this is what UT2k4 tried very hard to combat. As such, any attempt to remake a Halo map will be fundamentally flawed, for better or worse.

It does have a certain charm to it though, and any addition to the meagre library of vCTF maps (and beyond terrible vCTF maps at that) is welcome.

It's pretty good, but I think it should be a tad bigger. You could have done cooler stuff with the stream too, but I guess you're trying to stay true to the source map. Also, why can't you see the rest of halo when you look up?? Seems to me that you should be able to. . . Also, the bots arn't very challenging even on the high difficulty settings.

As far as imports go, this is pretty good. However i really never cared for this map in halo, so i dont like much here, but thats not really the mapper's fault. so in terms of a halo map made for ut2004, this is a very nice job

This map is good but only for 1vs1 or 2vs2. i think you could've make it bigger though.

I dunno, the handful of Halo maps that have been redone in UT... the scale just feels completely wrong. As such I wasn't a huge fan of this map at all. I appreciate the effort the mapper may have put into it, but it's not one I'd keep on my hard drive.

I only played Halo a little on the Xbox, and never played this map on it. So I can only judge it as a UT level itself.
As a UT level, it's very poor. There's not much to it. The vehicals go too fast to the other base and back and can slaughter defenders in the base (Scorpions can drive right inside). I'm giving it a 2 because it looks ok, but is bad for about everything else.
