Map Info

File Namedm-conveyorutkdbl.zip
Authordaveyboylang
GametypeUT2k3 Deathmatch
Date Added08-15-2004
File Version2.00
File Size1.86 mb
Player Count10
Map DescriptionThe original Conveyor was my favourite map in the old UT. Creating this version has been a good learning curve with the new editor. Iv'e tried to keep it faithful to the original, the added eyecandy of the new engine (it's hard not to over use the StaticMeshes)makes map creation a dream. There's a few bugs and i will except a few constuctive criticism's from anyone. Have fun!!!
The zip file now contains the decayed.usx package, that some how got missed in the original upload.

A good effort as far as remakes go but the map could have used some more work on the lighting.

Also there seem to be some issues with the operation of lift triggers but that could be due to the fact that the map was built for UT2K3.

Additional comment to the mapper: The lighting is too bland and even and also too bright. Others have said that the texture usage is bland but in my opinion that has a lot to do with the map being overlit. If the map had more 'light and shadow', in other words more lighting definition, it would have gone a long way to giving the map more atmosphere and brought out the best in the choice of textures.

I was running this map out of UT2K4 so if you get hold of that version of the game a rebuild and few more emitters (steam, sparks; whatever) would go a long way to completing this map.

wow a five and manticore who usually dont throw away points weird well this is not worth a five (not to me atleast) because five to me is average thjat means not bad,not good either just.. a map with nothing spectacular and no big flaws either but this map had got real flaws to me as the lack of details, and small things like at some places the conveyor doesnt move you and ultrasmall thing like glass is only visible from one side, lava looks uggly like hell lifts often kills you and due the lack of details this map hasnt got a good framerate ever heard of anti portals (i havent opened this in the editor) but if u have antiportals they could be mush better placed because this map is perfect map for antiportals, and another thing that destroid this map was the easyness of getting to the shield or what it was nearby the lava i think that was the highlight of the map because everyon tried to get it when they came there but now everuthing u gotta do is get up on the lava thing and double jump! well as you here there is a lot of flaws in the map but it still had almost got the feeling that original conveyor had wich many mappers have lost (including myself at DM-zeto well im up to anew map DM-hobo witch should be really good not a remake though)

end: a good map just too little work on it it looks like a beta , more deytails and optimisation!

If this map looked as good as that blueish picture in the corner I would Love it, but it doesn't. The lava needs work and the conveyors need to be slowed some, and the textures or lighting changed to look as good as that pix up there ;). Do that and this map will be pretty good :).

Don't know why the picture has a bluish cast, as to the conveyor belt , it took me ages too work out how to move it then i discovered that only the smaller mesh was animated i think!!. As to the lighting, it all depends on how your monitors setup, mine set for Photoshop using Abobe gamma usin a profile i got from work so my Photoshop work matches that of the Macs we have there which is in important as i work for a printer, and i have noticed that games are a lot darker.
It is my first map with UT2003 and i'm still getting to grips with the newer features.
