A certain person who will remain nameless linked me to this map. I make this review as a warning. To anyone who has even remotely listened to what I have to say:

This is the biggest waste of time I have ever downloaded.

I do not know the author's intentions, and neither will anyone else in the universe. The map download was hefty, something that did not really set off any alarms considering it is a common thing for me to see a UT2004 with that load size. After reading a two sentence readme that contained the author's email, I stared at the rest of the zip contents. There was the map file and...

...like 30 screenshots.

Why? It's almost comical that the zip contained so many pics yet the author failed to bother with an ingame map selection shot (which explains the lack of pic in the NC map page, but if you saw what I saw then you would know better).

I can't lie about the map I ended up playing, but if you download it you have my sympathies.

The Prophet's Verdict: If you have any respect for yourself, pay heed to my warning and just look away. Check out a better map, like say...whatever is the new NC featured map;)

To the author: You don't need 28 screenshots in a zip of your map. Its ridiculous.

Dear gods. Screenshots account for over 98% of the size of this archive. If you're thinking that such an act of lunacy is probably indicative of the quality of the map, you're absolutely right. It's not just bad, it's a crime against humanity. Don't waste your precious time and bandwidth as I did mine! There's still time for you! Run, you fools!

Arg-g-g-g-H!!! ... reeks of n00b! :-
A bunch of stuff placed at random.

Gave the map a '1' because it opens at least.

The builder definitely needs to open some top rated
maps and take some notes.

I think giving him a solid zero is just far too harsh.

I mean, the author DID get the gametype correct in his setup...

Honestly, a cube with random weapons in it would have played better than this. Large downloads don't bother me with my 4mbit/sec, so I gave this map a shot to judge it on the value of the map as it is and not because of the screenshots within the archive. Well, my rating pretty much says it all. Has this guy ever heard of proper texturing before? The textures are so bad and warped that it often looks like a rendering error with your video card. The bots only stay in one "room" and the rest of the "map" is left alone. It looks like some sort of underground tunnel thing may have been the inspiration for this. There are many random or misplaced objects including very small planes and very large wrecked cars (like, the cars are twice the size of the planes). This map just doesn't flow. Realistically, I don't see how anybody could consider playing this recreationally. Sorry, dude, but you should really work on your map a little more before releasing it to the general public.

Better than what I could come up with, only because I can't use the editor. This would be one of the first things I would do, but to release it? It is useful as a test map for those who can't use the editor, but that doesn't account for much. You're lucky that I am creative or you wouldn't get this point. On second thought, other maps can be used for that so you lose your point.
And WHY the screenshots? You took about 7 shots of the same room. Do you think someone is going to look at them and think: "Wow! Dis guy bæ soo0o goood? I wish me has hims skills%"? Well, people are going to:
1. Not look at them.
2. Look at them and dump the map instantly.
3. Look at them and think: "This guy is so weak he has trouble keeping up, even while cheating"
4. Look at them and think: "This guy is so weak he has trouble keeping up, even while cheating" and then dump the map.

He didn't give Nali a screenshot because he knew people would go through the above steps without wasting their time and badwidth downloading the map. He is not an idiot, I'll give him that.
You have my sympathies. I tried to look on the psitive side for you, but I thought better of it.

(Just in case some of you are sensitive, I am NOT suggesting that people with poor english skills are stupid, nor am I insulting them in any way. I am only playing on the fact that if you are stupid enough to have the suggested view on the screen shots you are likely too stupid to understand english very much. If you thought this explanation was nessesary, then you need to lighten up and enjoy life a little.)

Fuzz, what you realy need to work on is being more creative, and that is something that there is little we can do to help you with. I know that, even if I knew how to use Ued, I would not have enough creativity to make even a decent map. If a child knew how to use Ued like some of the great mappers, that child could easily out do them because children are so creative. I won't give you an over inflated score just to encourage you (I learned my lesson, Fordy.) because I must still think about the people that downlowd the maps, but I will encourage you with my words. You have achieved far more than I could have by figuring out the editor; now all you need is a little more practice, and a lot more creativity.

To the admin:

I pretty much agree with Deathbliss here. I must be completely honest: When somebody submits a cube with a playerstart, I feel no need for constructive critisism, but with maps like this, at least the author gives it a try.

About the map:

Take a look at a few other DM maps. Just forget about the movers, blocking volumes, antiportals etc. they will only confuse you. Start with thinking of a theme you will work with. Plan a little of your map, such as the main rooms. Think about connectivity, multiple ways to reach different areas. Be more subtle with light coloring. Place static meshes in order to support your theme, not randomly. And most of all, good luck!

No offence author, theres no need to spam a crapload of screenies in the readme. And the map..1/10. That should explain everything.

(I dont know why my comment was removed but I guess I'll try again...)

Map is very disturbing. Should not have sent it unless it was a bit better, in other words it was very amatuer. Try finding a theme, instead of using random content. (The giant manta chair is just taking it too far!) Design a layout, instead of using crappy tunnelish halls. When you find a theme, your theme will help prevent you and help you decide better and what actor classes you are going to use, like statics, textures, meshes, etc. this is just a random amatuer jumble of things that can be done using UED. Try better next time.
Don't need that much screenies. I think 3 is too much, but this?! Woh!
