DM-TheConstruct | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-theconstruct.zip | Author | Sgt.G | Gametype | UT Deathmatch | Date Added | 04-15-2004 | File Version | 3.10 | File Size | 11.06 mb | Player Count | 12-16 | Map Description | The Construct is based on various scenes from the Matrix trilogy (but are not exact replicas).
Free your mind and make a jump across the roof tops or dodge the train in "El" Subway Station. Take on a crowd in the park or street and dodge bullets as you dive through the backdoor corridor to the Lobby. Watch your back cos your gonna need guns, lots of guns in these 9 scenes from the Matrix.
Best played with the Matrix Moves and/or Lazy Matrix mods, this level isnt just for Matrix fans though. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 5 | Overall Rating | -- |

| Slabjacker 04-15-2004 06:18 PM MDT | Rating: 4 | | Hmmm, doesn't do it for me. Maybe I have to appreciate The Matrix a little more to fully appreciate the map. A bit of a challenge with the teleporting doors but the map layout is plain and uninteresting to me.

| XepptizZ 04-16-2004 05:59 PM MDT | Rating: 5 | | I'm a big fan of The Matrix and some things are just not wright. >>>The entry hall with the metaldetectors is too high and the metal detectors are possitioned wrong. But those are details. >>>The train only can be triggered twice, because after the second time I jump on the rails, the train wouldn't run me over. >>>Ya used plain sheets for the window, wich don't colide with the UT weapons(or the player), I suggest you go find a Breaking glass tutorial(for a cooler effect). >>>And what's up with that sewer-lid? When it opens you can hardly fit in, and when you finally succeed, all you get is a slimey death. >>>And the Architect's room with the TV-monitirs covering the wall isn't square in the movie, It's circulair. >>>In the room with the TV set you used white txtures everywhere, next time don't forget to unlit them for that "endless" effect as in the movie.
These are just some pointers, but I did really like the Low Grav zone for the jumping scene, but it should have been way higher.
Overall I think the theme has much more potential than this map shows. Wait, one more thing, try to use warpzones in "the hall of doors".

| Sgt.G 04-16-2004 06:21 PM MDT | | Thanks for the comments guys.
To XepptizZ: Thanks for all the tips, Ill bear them in mind when I get round to doin some more work. As I said in the readme, the map is based on a few scenes but I never intended them to be exact replicas. As for the train, it moves back to the base key when someone enters the room by the phone box or corridor so it will run an infinite number of times (I tested it).
You should look out for DM-TheConstructRebooted which Im releasing soon. It contains several more scenes as well as a lot of changes to the original to make it more accurate and playable.
Many thanks, G.
