| Ironblayde 04-15-2004 10:00 AM MDT | Rating: 0 | | Dear gods, this map sucks. Architecture is horrible, texturing even worse. There's a hideous black texture which declares how much the author's clan rules, and then asks, "Who gives a f***?" That's what I'd like to know! Textures on adjacent walls slant in different directions, and he even has texture panning turned on for some of the brick walls. One PlayerStart drops you into a water hole in which water textures are used on all sides as well as above -- really classy. There are dozens of random static meshes placed in huge groups, including a couple character models of all things -- what the hell? Item placement is abysmal, including the letters "UT" spelled out with Health Vials, items stuck in the ceiling, a room with multiple Redeemers, and more. Bot pathing was clearly done automatically by UnrealEd.
Needless to say, this map plays absolutely horribly. This is like an exhaustive tour of everything you should not do when mapping for UT. It has not a single redeeming quality. I'm going to go take a shower and try to forget I ever downloaded this.

| Orion(Co30) 04-18-2004 11:36 AM MDT | Rating: 3 | | When I see comments like those made by Ironblayde, I usually download the map to see for myself.
Ok, so it's not the best map ever. It does, however, have some redeeming features. You can't fall off the edge to your death, that's good. Lighting is adequate and you see where you are going and who's shooting at you, that's good. The map has good flow, there are no dead ends where you get trapped and blown to bits, that's good. The bots are quite good in it, regardless of how botpathing was achieved, that good.
So I think the map is well named. A first impression of it sucks, but a second one isn't all that bad. Of course, comments about general architecture, item placement and texturing were all dead on. The author's mapping skills do need a lot of improvement, but they are not as abysmal as one might think at first glance. Just my $0.02 worth.
