I have downloaded this map already from another site and had a problem where the sky showed up as the default texture. I will download from here and see if it is different. If it isn't can anyone tell me why it is happening - is it the mapper's fault or my graphics card (GF4 MX440)?

EDIT - Nope, no difference. So can anyone tell me why - it has happened before.

Let's start out by just saying i like this map. When i first saw the shots i already hoped it was gonna rock, cause the shots looked nice. In game the map looks nice as well, except for some weird 'artifacts' in the water. there seems to be some square border around the map in the water, making the water look unnatural, but the rest of the looks were ok. good use of terrain layers.
the gameplay was ok. what i like most about this map is its originality. it didnt look like any other ONS map i've seen so far. the redeemers are located in a place you can only reach by raptor, which makes them challanging to get and not very wanted if the action is happening to take place in that area, which is good, cause it prevents redeemer-spamming. the only negative point i found here (but that's only an opinion, others might view it as challanging), was that the nodes are quite close to eachother while the map is really small, so you can hit one node easily while standing next to another. this makes the nodes very hard to conquer, even with low skilled bots. the bots itself play well.
i also found a kinda annoying bug and that has to do with the water again. i didnt open it in the editor, but there didnt seem to be a watervolume anywhere. i could stand completely in the water without any effect at all, like gravity or distance fog. if you'd fix the 2 water "bugs", i'd give it an 8.

[edit:] brighteyes, its not the mapper's fault, the sky works fine here

I think the sky was mentioned somewhere else. I think it was because the author forgot to set a "fallback material" for the sky texture. This means graphics cards that can't handle the sky texture just show the default texture instead of what would otherwise be the fallback texture.

I like this map. Orginal links setup is nice. It would be better if you went in and added a water volume. The vehicles don't react any differnt when diving in the water... no entrance or exit sound either. Overall, I like it. It reminds me of 1944 maps. Another thing, and maybe someone could confirm this, but I had loading errors when I brought it into my editor... one of the AW*.* packages.

This map has good and bad areas, first ill start with the good, i love the whole island theme going on, very nice, i also like the hilly terrain it makes for some good jumping in vehicles :) now for the bad its WAYY to small for an onslaught map, and it has to many power nodes for the small size of it, now the edge of the map is just down right goofy, i was flying in a raptor and i saw some bad textures/staticmeshes alog the edge of the water (im not a mapper so i dont know wat term to use) but other than this i like it, but i have some suggestions, make another map like this but spend more time on it please, and make it alot bigger and also place some small forts/bases near some power nodes and add some moutains on it to, OR you or someone else could make a deathisland map, Deathisland is a map from halo, and i think it would be a great map for ut2k4

Agree with the others, the map should be bigger, but it looks very nice.

i agree with the rest, the map looks nice, but shouldve been bigger and include a watervolume

[edit (for new version):] whats new in the new version...? the water is still not fixed and it played the same as last time: getting the node i was building shot every time because it was too close to the others...

I had the same sky trouble. (only in that map and in one of the fragops) If author wouldn't put that texture in package, the level would not work. but it works, and replaces the sky with UGLY UT default texture.(why don't they use a better default texture, such as stone or sky??)
The idea of the map is great and refreshing. Terrain is wellmaid, but there are few things that bothered me(and others). Water isn't watery.. nodes are too close to each other, and not isolated by anything, so it work as a node to node shots. (there is a rule for the ONS- mapping--- nodes should be blocked in such a way that the enemy can't hit it while standing on their node.
Even though, it was still fun to play. Just add palm trees and some kinda boat in the open sea, to make an extra visual touch.
By the way, that map might work well even for low end machines. That why i recomend it.

I like the originality of setting an Onslaught match on an island like this. However, I think the map itself is a little on the smallish size, causing the nodes to be too close to each other. A bigger map with perhaps a few more natural formations to hide some nodes from others would make this an excellent map.

I like this map. Clean, simple, and to the point. The whole setting of map is great. I do hope you will make more maps like it for us. As for things good and bad they have alrdy been said. A bit small, nodes exposed, and I can die in the water but I can't float? Seeing as ONS is so new to every one I am sure you will be sending us even better maps to play with next round. I look forward to it.

Very cool map.
Very small. Good for 3vs3, 2vs2 or even 1vs1-onslaughtmatches. :)

The water is seriously nicely made by the way.

The superweapons are a little easy to get. Only the bots don't know that. :P

What Bot40 says....

I have an nVidia Gforce4 MX440 card and it's all about hardware brushes and maps which have been built without fallback materials for those of us less fortunates.....

There are a few CBP maps for UT2K3 with the same problem and other maps around, some in mods. It is not always in the skybox though...

The way it's meant to be played.... or what this particular card will and won't support.

I wanted to like this level very much, but gameplay becomes frustrating because you can very easily snipe from one power node to the next.

Nice Look - think the water needs some tweeks on the edges. Great gameplay for a quick round of onslaught.

Nice map with fast-paced play (though not always short!) Redeemer and Painter are tough to get at, but accessible and visible. Water/shore could use some touchup as others have mentioned.

I will give this a seven cause I really enjoy playing it. It is very fast paced and can get very hairy. I love using the Mine layer on this map.

But I have a big complaint. It is soooo easy to node snipe on this map. If you protected the nodes more, it would much cooler.

Original and something I have tried to produce in an ice environment without success. Love playing this online and have had some hard fought battles. I will continue to play this and I rank it in the middle of current ONS maps. Look terrain, nodes, vehicles, island theme throughout carries the map.

I'm no mapper, but this level looks and plays nice. It's my favorite onslaught level.

I really like this map. My son and I regularly play it on our LAN. It is outright mayhem playing 4 on 4.

I love this map. No it aint the prettiest, it aint the most strategically complex, and it aint got loads of fancy stuff. Buts its got a ton of fun.

We used to play this late into the night - hardcore ONS at its craziest, should be played at least 16 player with super beserk & Benelli shotguns on. If u aint pissing of sweat by the end u aint playing it right heh.

An online ONS classic in my book - always gives me a smile when i play it.
