Certainly a good looking map, though the downside may be from some of the texturing. Most of it looks great, but the greenish brick is pretty much everywhere. Not to say it wasn't done well, it just isn't the prettiest brick texture. Alignments were missed on angles and corners. But I must say the added moss and other vegitation hanging around really adds a ton to the atmosphere.

Lighting is executed well, light creeping through holes in the walls and skylights. I think a darker sky may have given better effect, but I'm not going to ding off any points for that. There are some nice dark areas all around, nothing too dark however.

Architecture is the better part, a real sense that the place is falling apart. A bit on the blocky side, but in a classic way. The bricks falling out of place, with gaps still left behind; smooth transitions in the elevation of the floor; and coolest of all are the vines that almost make a lattice above near the bases. The bit of terrain in a cave is well done. But again, overall blocky.

BUILD: 1.5
Brushwork could have been a little more friendly. Many of the large gaps in the brick walls is comprised of multiple brushes, would've been nice to see those all one brush. Skybox is pretty bland, just your regular clouds with mountains in the background, no coloring to it, just a bright, cloudy day. Sounds range from the swampy ambience, to flowing water, wind, and other critters. It certainly won't be quiet for any amount of time.

CAST: 2.5
Plenty of ammo lying around for your hungry weapons, maybe a little too much; almost everywhere you turn, you'll see ammo within grasp. However, it seemed as though I was picking up plenty of ammo, but really no weapons for it. Sometimes I found myself collecting quite a few firearms, most others I could only get one or two. Health was in good supply, vials in main paths, while medboxes were strewn in other locations, but you probably won't make it to them.

Gameplay is has a real fast pace to it. The bases are fairly close together as opposed to most maps, but this CTF-Rune][ has plenty of routes to choose from. Bots use all the routes too, mostly the bottom level, but I saw a good many taking the upper floor at various times while playing. You'll have to take the various routes to cap the flag different times too, whichever one gives you the path of least resistance.

SCORE: 6
No more than 12 bots before overcrowding occurs. A real fun map from a proven author. No disappointments should be had.

Great map!
I really like it, though it lags a bit at parts.
Other thing is that while at a base, you can't really tell if you're going your Flag, or other base direction... maybe that's just lack of habbituation to it.

/me likes. :D

Overall nice stuff. The only things i didn't like are the ugly floor texture and the boring sky...
A bit more shadows effects would be nice too.

I agree with Blueyes on the skybox bit - it looks a bit too bland for this nice atmosphere. But I really love the theme and I thought the textures were quite fitting as well. Good music choice too. I'm more used to the JB version of this one as well. :-)

Thanks for the comments guys, you're all right about the skybox, it's a bit grey, I thought it added to the atmosphere, but I guess some birds wouldn't be misplaced there ;)

Nahand, you're right on the teamcolors, the only thing that marks the bases are the coloured lamps embedded in the walls, they're not very visible in some places but I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere with red and blue lights ;)

Again sorry for the lag in some places, but I sure had fun building this map !

On a side note, it's impossible to download the map using Mozilla FireFox because of the ][ in the filename. It downloads without problems with IExplore though :)

Fantastic work, Snow. One of the best visual experiences I've had with this game for a while. Possibly have minor niggles with the lighting, as given the level of architectural detail, it would have been nice if there'd been some more shadows. Other than that though, awesome stuff. :)

The texturing on this piece is just ugly. The lighting is so washed out in some places. But agian, in the case of most SnowDog maps I've played, the gameplay saves the day.

A 6 does seem a bit of injustice. That's why there's an added point left over for users to decide. But the awe just wasn't 2.5, and the build was hit and miss. I don't need to explain myself again. Read the review.

The bottom line: It's a fun map.

This one is twilight... While gameplay is good most of the time, it shows its weakness by Z-Axisfighting - though it doesn't matter too much because of the tight and fast fights. Graphics are mostly good, but some places could have been more detailed, and some linking ways aren't lit good. => Overall I'll give 6.5, so it be 7.

Good archi, like the loose blocks and stuff, but why didn't you make the little waterfall transparent? and the gameplay could be better. O well.
