I liked how the one part of it looked destroyed with the lava below. The only thing that I thought was odd was the location of the Damage Amp. Kinda easily accessed, but that's my opinion.
Good map!
| Sir Xavius 11-09-2005 02:43 PM MST | Rating: 8.5 | | Of all the cathedral maps i've downloaded (i'm only up to the G's), this is my favorite. It's not huge, it's not grand, but there is a definite story in this map that you can read by simply exploring it from one end to the other (in-between fragfights, of course).
One end of the cathedral (the side with the nude-angel mosaic window) is your normal, well-kept, UT99 cathedral. It is everything you'd expect, with plenty of goodies and nice flow. However, the other half of the cathedral (where there is a nude-demon mosaic) seems as if it's being consumed by Hell. The earth has opened up below the floor, and is in the process of geologically consuming the "evil side" of the church. The floors are broken and structures are uprooted. There are dangerous pitfalls (literally) and the goodies are not easy to come by. There is more darkness both in lighting and atmosphere, and there are hidden areas in the towers. Game flow on this side of the cathedral is more choppy and erratic, as you'd expect from the dark side. While in the holy side of the church, you'll find the shieldbelt; on the desecrated side you'll find a ledge you'll barely be able to jump across.
With good botpaths and decent gameflow at 6-12 players, this map is a keeper...
