What Hammer?
First impressions are lasting impressions so I'm told. Luckily this map looks good to start. However on inspection is littered with texture mis-alignments, unsourced lighting and terrain from hell. I know curved surfaces can be hard to align, but these are straight and don't require any texture skewing. Several lense flares appear for no reason other than a dash of color and the terrain requires a total redo if it was to ever look nice. The sky box is the worst offender to me, easy to correct by scaling either the textures or the subtractive brush seeing edge lines is unexcusable this late in the game, even for a beginner.

A handfull of lightmapped custom static meshes make their debut. The dull-textured crate drops a heavy poly load while the other meshes form architectual details. I'm confused as to what to make of the dual pistons alternating from black spots on the floor? Atleast blocking volumes were used and if you venture into the lava it will fry you instantly. I would have liked to see trim on the edges of the various levels, perhaps even more static meshes to fullfill the need.

Gameplay was above what I had expected. The circular layout with the serpentine trough proved to have good z and decent flow. Connectivity wasn't an issue with the small size and simple floor plan. Unfortunately it became boring after the first match and doesn't merit many replay points. As stated by User comments, there is no ammo, though scavanging works well in the confined space, especially with 4 players (MAX). The U-Damage really doesn't have enough risk incentive and the Armor only a consilation prize to someone spawning near the Lightning gun.

In closing, I found nothing in this map as a tribute to the Nordic Mythos that is credited by the title or intro text. In that it fails. As an average Deathmatch it delivers an adaquate place to frag and be fragged, once.

OK iam i missing something two health one shield and just the guns with no extra ammo? Prove me wrong and i change my Rating.

UPDATE:
The look from my point of view was very nice indeed, small but makes for a fast play map, and that gets the blood pumping and for quick shots or else. But with out the health/ammo will turn of most players. May i ask why you pushed a could be good map out to soon?

Score 7-8 if you included h/a and made them just a bit hard to get.

UPDATE:
I commend you on a good first start, EXCEPT for a few minors, just take your time on the maps to follow your on the right track.

just curious, besides the ammo and vials missing what would you score this map? (you forgot to mention dd btw)

sorry they wern't included I just really needed to get this map out the door, and also I never needed ammo, I was always able to get ammo from enemy's weaps and thats on godlike mode,. even still I apologize, sorry, will make it a point to include them in my next map.

--edit--
hmm, well Initially this map was only meant for my learning how to work the bsp specifically curves. but then one thing led to another and then another and I reworked the bsp so much that I finnally had a map, and then I learned some static meshing, then terrain this map was a learning experience I had very little knowledge before making this map.. and did i forget to mention this is my first map? yeah I guess I did :) I'm glad you liked it other than the h/a faults,

edit tips
=======================================================
u maybee cuold place out some ammo
u certainly must change the meshes 4 the jumppads, and the jumpsounds were terrible
u could add some statick meshes bcause if u dont this could have been made as an ut 1 map aswell. more details otherwise niicemap

this was a well design map! good job

Very fast paced map. You have to be constantly on the move to avoid getting fragged.

Looks ok, but gameplay is the star here - it's fun to play!

I really wasn't impressed. Bad flow at times, gameplay suffers a bit, terrain too jagged, etc. Read more on my Insite review. Decent effort though.

This map isn't too bad and I think the lack of ammo actually helps this map by avoiding the usual flak spamfest or rocket arena effect in this small of a playing area. 2-on-2 works pretty well here. Fun little map.

Personally i think CTFX1 has tried his bets with this map & yes this is is 1st map, so by saying its crap doesn't help him. When leaving feedback for a mapper saying its crap doesn't help, what is crap exactly? The terrain?the lighting?the bot pathing?the textures, and so and so on.

In time CTFX1 will learn more of the editor, and more techniques as he creates more maps. No one wiht there 1st map is going to create a ownage map are they?

So go easy and leave constructive comments.

BTW- CTFX1 in case you read this, i've given it a 0 because i haven't played the finished version, so i'm not really rating it i just have to give it one to leave a comment

I like this map alot. Very bold look to it, and it makes itself ook bigger than it really is. Definite ominous Quake-ish style, which imho is a good thing. Bot don't do bad at all either.
Only problem I see is that the little coronas on the sides of the stair cases don't have any light sources, no mesh or anything..?
Maybe I DL'ed an early copy of this map? Either way, get them little details in there, clean up the jagged terrain (or were you going for basalt, kind of obsidian formations? If so I think the rocks could be darkened near those jagged ends maybe..?) and It'll be a definite keeper on my HD. Keep up the great work and don't let the lamers talkin trash get to ya. :)
Oh and damn! This is your first Map? BRAVO! Seriously hope to see more from you, I know ym first map will suck compared to this if I can ever finish it...
