File Namedm-flywheel.zip
AuthorSicko Teddy
GametypeUT2k3 Deathmatch
Date Added01-31-2004
File Version1.00
File Size3.9 mb
Player Count2-16
Map DescriptionThe batle takes place in the hydralic powerplant. You are fighting in the flywheel chamber. The technical purpose of those flywheels is to smooth the rotation of turbines. However , for you, those flywheels will cause you a different combat style. it might affect your weapon selection.
This is my second map for UT 2003.
Creation due to my boardom. I made that level for two reasons
1) to make a level with a unique combat setting
2) to test wheser or not the mover system was improved in UT 2003
It is a small map with a new way of fighting. This map will prove you, how usefull the shieldgun is!!
(Reqires quick reaction;help in aiming skills;boost up tactiks.)
(Mini map)
Don't eat or drink before playing it!You'll know what I mean........

Well it looks nice, but iam sorry i could not play it long, way to hard on my eyes when on the flywheels.

UPDATE
By all means have something like that in a map, but give us a chance to take a break. I could see going on there to get something i want, but not to play most of the match there.

whoa the rooms spining...that was my first feeling i got when i stop a 6 minute game on DM-FlyWheel, makeing a whole map that reqires you to do fighting on a rotating disc is never the best way to keep your lunch down. however i do see some real use for the flywheels, like you where talking about teddy, about that CTF map with something like this in the middle whould be a good idea but i think a couple of ajustments should be put into consideration. for one, i think you should have a room that has these flywheels that are also eleivated at random height's, or you clould have it where u have to jump from flywheel to flywheel trying to catch a redeemer on top of them all.
second, i think you should ethir have the wheels go at diffrent speeds(some faster then the others) or slow them down dramaticly and keep them all at the same speed.i know bot pathing is gona be a *****, but i really chould some killer maps comeing from this. well anyway teddy thats just one white guys opion

The wheels ARE spinning a bit fast you know. Having them spin a bit slower wouldn't hurt the gameplay at all. Furthermore I agree with horned demon, different speeds (not TOO fast), different heights. Maybe even some next to each other as a passage from 1 flag to another. I really wonder if that CTF will be a bit more balanced (spinning speed) because that would really help I think. BUT DAMN WELL MAKE THE CTF MAP, I WANT IT!!!

This is a cute idea for a map, but ultimately it's just a bit too gimmicky and not really that fun to play.

The map revolves (no pun intended) around a series of spinning disks in the floor. The action consists of attempting to hit your adversaries while spinning and jumping from disk to disk.

It's a clever idea, but it's too fast. As a Descent player, i'm not easily disoriented - but here things were all a blur. Players cannot outrun the spinning of the disks and trying to go "against the flow" can result in a lot of disorientation. As far as looks, the map is fairly average. The coronas around the lights are HUGE though for some reason.

I would suggest slowing the disks down and making the rotation effect more subtle. I would also do away with that odd "notch" in the disks and make them a flat surface.

Yes Sulk, I agree, I made that one in one hours, and about 2 days after I released the DM-Blast Furbace.

I need to find enough of free time to make a map. Right now I have a whole bunch of plans, and I'm lost-
>to make a UT2003 CTF map that include those spining disks?
>make a newerbetter version of BlastFurnace, for UT2004?
>make AS-HiSpeed2 map for UT2003 (using AS mode)
>or mabe make an AS map for UT2004??
>or an ONS map in mountains (>or real world forest?)
>the Monsterhunt map in egypt theme, for UT99 (making it look like UT2003?
> Or a REMAKE of UT2003 map into UT99 map (there is a way)

There is way too many plans :( I wish to get to my summer break from college, to do all of that.

WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?? :0
