I figured I’d nab this one quickly since Ammayhem got to review the other two. Sorry dude, but the Prophet is very quick and clever.

Ok people, Kami rocked all our balls so start downloading, I’ll explain on the way.

I remember a few of Kami’s maps that I reviewed in the past and gave a score a little less than what some might say is decent. But they had flaws, yet I saw promise in them, and did Kami get all pissed like some of you and start flaming me? Nooo, what did Kami do you ask? He smiled, thanked me, and made better maps. I remember playing Last Crusader ][ and being very impressed, and unlike the Godfather Trilogy, the 3rd chapter in this tale is actually the best.

Kami utilizes the godlike Chico Ruin’s pack that was put to use back in ONP and uses it to its maximum potential here. The architecture is beyond solid, and the location he puts together here really leaves an impression. This place really is a ruin, when walking around I could actually feel the ancient groove radiating off this place. Smart use of brushwork for grass growth really gives the theme that extra boost and loose architecture piled on top of that really charmed me. Even the lighting I appreciated this time. He uses a pretty orange/red sunlight feature, which I’ve seen in his other maps (and was done a lot in ONP). I’ve never really liked that look so much before, but in here it feels right. Terrain is top notch as well, none of those crap angle effects you usually get, the mountains around the ruin really look as smooth as any UT2003 map’s terrain. The textures were used ingeniously, Kami really knew what he was doing with this set and I don’t think a lesser set could have given the map the same feel. To top it all off, he slaps one of the better temple songs from Unreal into this one (the magical Chizra song). For those who constantly bore me with crap about why UT2003 is better than UT because of, and I quote “Roxx0ring Graphix”, I dare them to play this and keep talking.

Bend over 2k4, this game is still kickin’.

Gameplay, surprisingly, gave nearly an equal impression. Ok, honestly, the visuals of the map are better, but this floorplan is pretty wicked. Several floors overlooking balcony hazards, ramps and lower levels underneath other lower levels keep the action pumped for chases. Bots simply own you, they got the place navigated down to pin-point precision and will cluster rape you before you can say “There’s no place like Home”. Items used here are just as interesting. Since there are a lot of paths to be deflected off due to splash-action weapons, there are lots of those guns around. The Flechette cannon, Ripper, Shockrifle, and Rocket launcher are your safest bets, though other good weapons remain for countering those. The sniper rifle is surprisingly effective here due to the open size of some of the rooms. Power-ups are placed intelligently and in clear understanding of the floorplan’s trajectory. There is a teleporter used in the map, which seems out of place but understandable considering the circumstances. Still, given the attention to the theme, I was surprised to see a standard UT porter placed against a wall. I did feel a few of the up/down ramps were a bit too steep, or maybe it just seemed that way because of how the bots seemed to move up and down them (at one point, I thought I was in an empty room because the view I had of a side of a ramp showed nobody nearby, and when I stepped up to it, Tamerlane popped out of nowhere and shot me in the balls with hot flak). Also, and this is tedious I know, but I fell off the balcony overlooking the ocean and got stuck on the architecture hanging off the slope as the bot who followed me off the ledge landed into the water and drowned, and I walked along the lower ruin walls looking for a way back up before calling it quits and taking the plunge. Salt water hurts. Other than a few minor problems, my thumbs are in the sky.

Take a bow Kami, this is what it feels like to come full circle. Bravo.

The Prophet’s Verdict: Most of you are probably itching for more new engine stuff, but this is a straight up sexy UT1 Deathmatch right here. It is rare for such an all around good map to appear for the old game so get this one right away. Flow and playability might be an issue for lower-end computers, but you suckers don’t count.

Great map, but that's usuall coming from Kami (and LastCrusader map series).

Though:
- lighting is *curious*, sometimes the sun light just doesn't seem correct with the *overall* lighting mood;
- we get ice only in a certain part of map, why not more all around?
- 45º ramps (yuk!)
- the utxpack problem: it's a same name for a DIFFERENT pack. I wonder if that could bring problems...

... oh well. But this is just me being picky (< a word o_0). Kami, this *is* a great map. (better than what i'll ever make).

0_o looks like here is the new featured map. some lil thing like the sunlight (as Nahand sez, sometimes it doesnt fit the general mood) and these weird 45º ramps.

Y'know what's so amazing about KaMi's maps?

It's not that:
- They are architecturally brilliant
- They are lush and filled with details
- They are fun to play

It's more at: "How in the world does he do it without incurring the wrath of the UnrealEd Goblin?????" :D

KaMi has definitely come across the happy median between creating gorgeous details and creating BSP holes.

Last Crusader ]I[ is no exception. Not only is it a great visual treat, but it has a good flow and plays nicely as well. Only real criticism is that the 45º ramps are steep and imposing. While they don't impede your walking speed, they don't look right either. A minor criticism is that the outdoor lighting does look a bit strange. On the vista where you overlook that lighthouse-type building in the distance, there is a rather blatant "spotlight" effect on the water that looks odd.

Another great LastCrusader map by KaMi! This one has the same great quality in it. KaMi, you should make a few more maps, then you could release a LastCrusader Map Pack. Hehe, nice map!

Very good-looking, but I think you need to rename that texture pack, because other maps may not run with this version of the chicoruinspack.

I think I like this one more than LastCrusader 1 and 2 combined....but unfortunately I cannot keep it on my hard drive 'cause of this issue.

KaMi is pure ownage. However, I thought the med boxes were too close together, and the layout a bit too linear. I think I like DM-Last Crusader][ a little better, but this is still an awesome map. Definately a keeper.

nice map, very onp like :P
nice light too, just the pink was a little bit over the top, it so strong it kills my eyes
and why do you always make such a steep ramps ?:)

its better as lastcrus2, its better styled and has more unity and theme around
nice stuff man but wherr the hell is the ut2003/4 mapping ?:)

excellent job kami (as usual) u r a mappin machine! imo flow of ][ was a bit better, played that one a LOT! niggles: ramps steep (already mentioned), got stuck in a deep crack, a bot came and killed me quick tho LOL! bots were superb - very aggressive!! great job dude but i dunno about that pink moon ... cheers

The previous renditions were great for UT maps. Its refreshing after playing in rather drab maps with almost no detail at all save their textures. The Unreal Engine even in UT is capable of better.

Do a UT2k3 version of this and the others. I know they will be smash hits like these were.

the lighting looks much cooler on prophets rig than it does on mine. a very well built map, polys hurt me some but i wont hold it against kami for my old pc. nice work

the first last crusader map was nice, the second I didn't like but this one is the best chapter of this popular trilogy
not as good as shadarfinal e.g. but still beautiful atmosphere!!!

Wow. . .it's out AND reviewed already. . .where have i been?! The only thing i want to whinge about is the texture pack. . .i have to keep swapping between the chico pack that came with this and the one i already have. . .but thats ok. This map has a great atmosphere, with an awesome use of sound (as usual ;)) the effects of the lighting are nice, but its a little too saturated ( that could just be my computer though. . ) The archy is also (as usual ;)) incredibly good. .. but i liked the intricacy of the original one more, and the original still remains my fav out of the trilogy. But still leaps and bounds ahead of what is being released now. . (on UT of course)

Oh my god! WOW! I don´t know what to say! This map is really, I mean really, great! Man, all maps from KaMi look cool and play well. Go on KaMi, built more maps like this! I would say: His maps are the best i´ve ever downloaded. And I download a lot!

Love the gfx on all of the authors maps. No such thing as low fps tho, which is a very nice thing, since im runnin a crap PC atm :/

Cant wait what the guy can cough up with UT2K3 or the new one when its released.

I wonder why so many people rated this map so high? I mean the architecture is at the most on an average level (f.e.: very steep ramps, fat trims, weird shadows). The gameplay was not too nice but with some good aspects. In sum one can speak of a solid map.
