| Doc Kevorkian 01-20-2004 07:09 PM MST | Rating: 2 | | A quick walk-through got my hopes up for this map, but a more thorough play test with bots left me seriously disappointed. Here's my scorecard:
The Good: Scale, layout and flow. The map is just the right size for my small group of friends (4-8 players) that does battle on a private server twice a week. The 3 routes into and out of each base is good and the central area with the ramps and jump pads is nicely thought out. I also found the hard to access elevated flag postions inspired.
The Bad: Aesthetics. Well, maybe not so much bad as mediocre and pedestrian. I found no BSP cuts or misalignments, but only one texture is used throughout, and the lighting is flat and unmodulated. The overall feeling is just…blah. There are hardly any details or embellishments to speak of. The only design elements are the color-keyed circuit board-like graphics on the wall, and the jump pad surfaces, both of which are decent.
The Ugly: The bots. They're worthless. I played 5 a side, set to Masterful. They just stood there. One bot was always in either of the 2 spawn rooms. It wouldn't leave. 1-2 were in each base. The remaining 1-2 would not move beyond the side of the central area closest to their bases. And no matter how many orders to attack I gave they just wouldn't budge. Not even shooting at them got them moving. Really, really BAD. Secondly, there is a sporadic respawn problem. When you walk into the teleporter to exit the room you're supposed to come flying out of a wall into the central area. Unfortunately you sometimes end up in the other spawn room instead. The result is a loop that leaves you bouncing back and forth between spawn rooms. Unless you're running a mutator like Rocket or Flak Arena where you can intentionally kill yourself, you'd be trapped forever. Extremely BAD.
My recommendation to all is to avoid this one. My suggestion to you Skully is to go back to the drawing board and fix those problems. I'd have given it a 5 or 6 otherwise. The map has potential. And in the future, make sure to check your work more carefully before releasing it. It'll save you some embarrassment.
P.S.( 1/20): Oh yeah, how about adding some weapons, armor and healh too.

| Skully 02-05-2005 07:31 AM MST | | Thx for the comments Doc. You pointed out what's wrong with the map and that what i like :x, not just a comment like "it sucks". I will look into these errors and maybe release a newer version then, or a total new map.
The weapons i know it's because i only play instagib :s. But i will make sure my upcoming maps have proper weapons and bot pathing before release :)
