Have you ever heard the phrase: “Not blowing my skirt up.” This, sort of, describes the feeling when I play this map. I think it’s because of its symmetry that I feel cheated. You pretty much fight in similar surroundings since most everything is a mirror image of everything else. However, having said that, the map does have a dynamic associated with it. For example, inside the main building are a couple of jump pads you can bounce around on while ammo is whizzing all about. The enemy is flowing down hallways, firing away and hitting you from a long distance as you approach this centralized section with the jump pads. Once inside the center of the main building, walkways support bots that are blasting away, then others are emerging into the room from the long tunnels to surprise you, and others are making their presence known by bouncing up from the jump pads and giving you a shot between the eyes. You’re emerged in a combination of long-ranged and short-ranged battles, and with 6 or 8 foes on your plate, the gaming gets rather intense.
The counterpart to this atmosphere is the outdoor area. It’s more mundane, but it gives you a chance to regroup and try out your sniping abilities. Although the action isn’t nearly as intense as it is indoors, you’ll still find yourself dodging enough bullets to make you feel uncomfortable at times. The bots seemed to be rather smart, and item placement is okay; I can see the thought process within the mind of the map-maker as he divvied out a few of the items. Again, though, with a symmetrical map, it doesn’t take too much thought to place a few items here and there. The visuals, although repetitious, were decent. I didn’t see anything standing out as being butt-ugly or out-of-place. It’s a civilized map that grows on you a bit after you’ve fragged around for awhile; just don’t expect a huge variety of scenery or fighting options. |
