CTF-EightCylinders | | Map Info |
| | File Name | ctf-eightcylinders.zip | Author | Chainsaw_Willie | Gametype | UT2k3 Capture The Flag | Date Added | 10-29-2003 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 370 kb | Player Count | 2-10 | Map Description | To my knowledge this is the first 1-on-1 capture the flag map that really works. The see-through force-field allows you to gauge what your opponent is doing and the multiple paths allow you to intercept each other.
It stands on its own with teamplay as well - coordinating an attack is challenging and rewarding. The main issue to overcome is the fact that both teams can see exactly where the other players are at. Camping is virtually impossible!
So close to the flag... and yet so far away.

| quickbeam 10-30-2003 01:10 PM MST | Rating: 8 | | The map is well done. It is quite refreshing to watch your opponent run for a teleport and lob a flak ball or some rockets at the other side - a nice surprise for when he comes out the other side!!
It's crazy and wacky but a lot of fun!

| _GMotha 11-02-2003 10:43 AM MST | Rating: 1 | | 1on1 ctf is somekind of joke no one bothered to make up by saying "I was just kidding". Calling a map 8cylinders is like putting a label "this is a fungus bred on horsemanure" on a pack of mushrooms. The only difference is: mushrooms can be tasty. Screenshots containing "this map are uber and pro and very ingenious!!!88!!!"-like texts point to a certain arrogant state of mind of the author.
I give it a 1 because the author seems to have substracted the cilinders all by himself.
