REVIEWER: Gnome and Sapper DATE: Thursday, August 11th, 2005 TODAY'S MAP WAS PICKED BY: Sapper
DM-UnderWaterBase by EternalEpoch
AWE: 2.0 BUILD: 2.5 CAST: 2.5
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4-6 RECOMMENDED GAME TYPE: DM or TDM ADRENALINE RATING: 5/5
GNOME: You know Sapper, I can honestly say I wasn't exactly prepared to play a map like this. SAPPER: After all the crap we've played over the last week, I will admit it was definately nice to play something a little bit more difficult. GNOME: When Liandri told me I was getting shipped to some arena at the bottom of the ocean- SAPPER: What are you talking about? They told you they were giving you cement shoes and you'd be swimmin' with the fishes. GNOME: -I didn't expect to get completely slaughtered. Either I've gotten soft or this map is really hard.
THE AWE FACTOR GNOME: Lowest score here. Although the lighting does fit the environment as does the texturing and everything else, I could have used a little bit more light. I'm in the middle of reading a really good bok right now. SAPPER: The ocean's skybox was clearly a box, but you'd only notice that if you spent alot of time looking out windows and stuff. GNOME: I was thinking of going fishing. Watching them things swimming around made me hungry. SAPPER: I prefer chicken myself.
THE BUILD GNOME: Excellent all round. Sound effects made the place seem more real and kept me on my toes. SAPPER: Or on your back. I must have fragged you like 50 times. GNOME: The whole facility has a very solid construction for which I'm glad. We must have been well over 10,000 feet underwater. It would have sucked to win the match and then die when the whole place collasped and flooded. SAPPER: That didn't happen though. Through expert use of brushes and texturing, I got the sense I was actually there.
THE CAST GNOME: So yeah, bots played like overly aggressive Navy SEALS. I got my share of kills but ended up 5th of of 6 most of the time. I can't even imagine what it would be like to play online. SAPPER: Probably the same. Everyone is better then you Gnome.
OVERALL GNOME: Although not your typical TOURNEY map, I like you'll all agree once you download and play it that it comes pretty close. SAPPER: I wouldn't mind playing it again. I don't like to leave maps unconquered. GNOME: Looks like we've got appointments so we'll see you all tomorrow. |

Reminds of those days playing on Kotor, hehe.
| Chopin 08-18-2005 09:38 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Not bad for a first map. It is pretty plain, but nonetheless well-constructed. You might have wanted to change the collision properties of the speeder so players would be able to jump on it without falling through.
