Map DescriptionOK this is my first map, so go easy on the comments hehe.
This was a map created for my clan, Wu tang killa beez iCTF clan.
There's lots of routes to take and the central ares is the main fragging spot. The bots are OK they take all routes, but dont like the water much and they will hunt you down.

Dl it and have some fun :)

I have to apologize to the author for taking so long to get this reviewed. I am such a lazy punk, I know, but here it is, CTF-36thChamber.

Map was better than I expected though, so that kicked me in the nuts right off the bat for sitting on it for so long (You wouldn’t believe the crap most people submit to me for review). So I fired up UT and gave this CTF map a go. Map is pretty decent in both looks and gameplay, but the gameplay was the better of the two.

Flow and playability were the most notable aspects of playtime in this “chamber”. No snags, and playability is as smooth as my girlfriend’s bottom (Well not THAT smooth, but comes close). There are several routes to take, more than the usual two-path option I see all the time, which is great, and I found myself using the X-loc a lot to jump to higher routes and to reach items, which is good. There is even an underwater spot in both of these symmetrical bases, but they don’t make you linger. I actually used them to move between rooms quite often. Item placement is good, right guns in the right spots, but what struck me was the kind of weapons I found myself using in here. Usually I grab a rocket launcher, flak, and shock for a CTF, but in here I usually had a bio rifle handy. The main room, which is labeled as the 36thChamber, is a network of ramps that crisscross and interconnect with each other over multiple levels, suspended over a large lava pit. My gripe with that is that it takes time to fall and burn up in the lava, instant deaths in a lava pool always rock harder than letting you melt slowly, especially in a team game. I had fun against bots, they navigate well and put a good game. They tend to slack off abit in some of the areas, and I did catch Athena running in place at the top of a ramp before I launched a well aimed rocket up her [Female genitalia] to get her back into the swing of things. I think she liked it. Slut. Anyway, game was alright, no complaints and despite the facing base type structure, you can muster up a pretty interesting game in here. Clutch!

Visuals didn’t quite live up to the game-play’s standard, but didn’t leave me with blue twins either. If I could, I’d say…I dunno, average? No real theme in here, just a generic base with passageways. Use of different texture packs is noticeable, but abit too much of a variety, like the guy wasn’t sure what he wanted. I saw a UTtech1 metal base tex attached to a slanted concrete tile. And something is rotten in Denmark when you got rooms labeled as “Brooklyn Zoo” and “Shaolin Lair”. The water I mentioned earlier is textured as the base’s team color, so you have either red water or blue water. And I mean, red or blue. Not complaining about it, just found it a tad…well strange. This map was obviously built for playtime and no sightseeing so I won’t question it anymore. In the end, the map looks fine.

The Prophet’s Verdict: More fun then putting catchup in all your orifices and running screaming into a crowd of nuns while shouting “I have ebola!”, but the visual side of the map is just on par. Not a bad map at all, but some people will expect more.

NOTE: You’ll notice that I censored the word replaced by [Female Genitalia] in the gameplay paragraph. This is not because I’m getting soft or because I’m buying into that political correctness crap, it just is that I couldn’t think of another word to put in there that wouldn’t get me in trouble. One will probably come to me later when I’m watching Iron Chef or something.

I am no expert on stuff like textures etc, but I can say this map looks good and owns from a playing point of view on instagib.

Numerous routes in and out of the bases means you will always have action with the flag being taken. That said, you can normally see which way the FC has gone. Defence is probably better in the middle of the map rather than in the base, leading to a lot conflicts there.

The map plays pretty much without lag, and for what seems like a medium/large map, you can cap very fast.

Luv it!!!

A 10 ?!?!?!?

... it's NOT worth it. It's too bland (in a bad sense), and gameplay is not all that amusing at all...

this map is great :) the people on i4games seem to enjoy it and ive played it many timez, always fun :)

theres much kamikaze desperation dodges to be had to lower levels wen in a tricky situation while flag runnin :) not for the faint hearted ;)

overall a fun map with plenty of playability and a nice mix of routes :) more fun than alot that are out there!

UT is about playability, unpredictability but most of all 'fun'....I've played 36th a few times on pubs and from the feedback of other players.....36th has these 3 essential qualities in abundance.

A fair & honest review though.....just 1 'gripe' of my own.........

Ever thought of binding a 'suicide' key?

Hope you like redish brown or brownish red. Your basic rooms connected by curved bridges. One very annoying design aspect was the over use of coronas. Which is made more annoying by the overall darkness of the map. The layout is easy enough to pick up but since there is no real cover making, except for the water short cut, making flag runs become tedious. A teleport helps a little.

Hey! I like! I do tend to walk out the door and fall straight into the lava though :(
