| CoRaSeNt 08-22-2003 12:50 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | the architec on this map is really nice, i love the look of the oilrig/indust feel to the map the bots take the items and play well-ish, theres not loads weapons but this map dont really need loads tbh. dark, dank and rusty and with nice flow for DM but i wish it was just a little lighter in there.

I just can't put my finger on it ;) Well anyways, I think I can only really rate the map on the stuff the author made, which is ok, but still needs practice. Things that were annoying were pillars that ended in mid air, and the bars on the bridges are too high (I wish I never made them like that in the tutorial). Also the overall detail level is a bit low (have a look at the example map at the end of the tutorial to show what can be done) Other 2 things are the lighting which was very boring (do a search for davidm's lighting tutorial) and also the layout was just 2 rooms which was also kinda boring. Sorry to sound quite so critical but I'm just trying to help improve the map.

There are dead-ends, the items create "inactive" areas, and, as Bot40 says, the railings are too high. Visual-wise, the map is repetitive and plain. There's nice architecture but no atmosphere. Bot40's tutorial map had great atmosphere by the end, where'd that go? The skybox is very plain and the lifts are textured with the default texture. Perhaps the author was a bit anxious to release it?
| Deceased 08-27-2003 04:45 PM MDT | | Well, as you can see i used Bot40's tutorial as a base for my map, ( well, one room of it, ... the tut gave me a themse for the rest ). You may also know that im not a very good mapper, so that explains why the map does not look as good as it could be ( which is the end result of the map Bot40 made in his tut ). The Weapon and item placement sucks as i am an instagib player, so i dont really know good weapon placement :P as for the lighting, my UT brightness is set to high becuase i have a crap monitor, so if you just didnt give up so easy and turn up your brightness a bit, the map will look better. Lifts are textured with the default texture as i am still learning some things. at the time i made this map i did not know how to change the mover textures.. ...I cant concentrate on one thing to long, ( maybe explains why im not a good mapper, so after a while of making this map i just got really bored by it, and distracted by other things... that may explain why theBAMNman thinks i was too anxious to submit it :) .......anyways, thnx for commenting on my....(half)work :P :)
