This is the most decent remake of Deck16][ which almost all of us has grown to hate after playing it 1000 times in UT. The good thing is it's not an exact copy of the original. From what I can see it looks to be completely hand made and based off the original. It has been given the UT2k3 makeover (Static meshes galore) that make a consistent theme. Bots play like they should although all the fighting with them seems to center around the lifts. Items are where they should be and lighting is sorta blue/white something. Everything seems grayish or blueish with white lights I guess. Haven't played the map recently so my memory is a little faint. Only thing missing is the jumpboots which I don't mind not having. Good remake although most of the users here on Nalicity will down this completely.

This is a rebuild from scratch and therefore I can give it some credit, as it looks nice and makes some interesting gameplay changes. However when it comes to looks, deck17 wins hands down.

I actually prefer the looks of this over Deck17. Imo this looks more like a 2k3 map.

To bad that the author didn’t have the boots package when he made this map
its not the textures that make the map look grayish it’s the lighting
it could have used better lights

Some of the semitransparent textures like the ramps adds a new look and changes the game play a little for example its now easier to combo somebody on them since you can see thru them as the picture shows

How ever the game play is very good but doesn’t play exactly like the old DM-Deck-16.unr some of the structure allows for some new moves, but some of the old moves are lost in this map.

This is due to double jumps adrenaline powerups combos like speed and the overall map scale compared to the size of the player. In other words some of the tricks you used to do on deck are just not possible or maybe just not the same.

Being deck-16 now a custom map instead of a out of the box map makes it less popular then before since now being a bit different and a couple of version of it out there doesn’t make it the standard for competitive game play, what I mean if you say to a player “ill play you some deck-16 on ut2k3 maybe he is used to another version of this map

Not being an epic or DE map makes it hard to be the standard. If I had to nominate the next deck 16 for ut2k3 I guess it would be DM-Antalus.ut2

This map could use a couple of structural changes lift speed and lights
Textures are good, game play its good ammo and weapons are good, after all
“Its deck”

i would play this map

SithLegend, do you always rate maps a 10?

This map is ugly and it's too big. Nasty, nasty, nasty.
Look at that awful texturing. ewwwww (barf)

Deck16 ][ wasn't all that great but this is just a joke.

oh no wait, it's yet another deck16 based map.
i never liked deck 16, now i'm starting to hate every last detail of this map.

note for all the "mappers" around here: THERE ALLREADY IS A DECK16 CONVERSION.
we don't need 50.000 of them

read first will you!?

is great remake but is steal the graphic no think about 10 or 9 give a 6 to 8 is good , or give a 0 to 5 if you think is so boring.

the screenshot seem's nice but not the map.

5 actually, plus 5 extra to make up for morons who rate all remakes ridiculously low. Though it is the best of the deck remakes, THE trick jump map from UT just isn't the same in UT2k3 with all the crazy new moves.

The original Deck16 was barf, so this isn't going to get a big score. People who give it 10 need a ct scan asap. If you like Deck16 go play UT ;P

All copying an original map shows is a lack of imagination. A map is 80% idea, 20%construction, so at best this is only a '2'...

The best Deck16 conversion yet.
Classic maps need to be converted.

I actually like this one better than deck17 in ut2k4...

Maybe i'm crazy, i know....

It's just that this level is the most "true" conversion of deck16, one which has been improved to suit ut2k3/4.

Some of the old deck16's bugs and sploits were fixed (there aren't those comfortable camp spots anymore), the look is just great (the emitters are well chosen and placed, lighting is still bland, but it's good enough).

Love this map!

Shadowlurker: This map stands on it's own in 2k3/2k4. The mapper has changed it to match the newer ut's gameplay, which is a good thing. Comparing it to the old map isn't the best thing to do though. This new deck is a ut2k3/4 map, it plays that way, has the right visuals (except for a few mishaps, i admit), and it is well redesigned.

I wouldn't look at this map entirely as a clone, which it isn't. This map can be compared in terms of a quality remake to EternalCavesClassic, albeit this one is a bit less sophisticated. Still, it's fun to play, even if you have never played ut, and it's nice to look at.

[edit] Lowered grade a bit....

Some of the comments above made me laugh
"You cant do all the oringal moves omfg it sucks but wait i'll give it a 10¬!!1111"
"OMFG ITS GOT NEW STUFF SO OLD DECK FLAWS ARE FIXED NOW IT SUCKS!"

Argh.
I've always thought deck wasn't a great as most people seemed to think, and this map doesn't change my opinion.
