My First Map :D

dont kick me too hard it was just supposed to be a fun CTF map with no real theme, nothing to "bring it all together"

Hope you like (next comes a assault map)

credits to Firefly's Beginner tutes, this map used his tute map as a base

Bonus points to anyone who figures out how to get Big Keg without translocator or hammer-jump (or anyone who tells me how to give no rating on a map)

No, LowGrav dosent count for the big keg (or jumpboots or jumpmatch etc. etc.)

At first I was also wandering how to post without giving the map a rating [assuming u mean ur own map], but then it turned out it just doesn't matter what rating u give ur own map, u always end up with "--"!

PS Low-Grav can be used 4 gettting the keg?

PPS Didn't download the map, too big, have a 56K Modem ;)

Clever use of bounce type pads to get to things, I found the bots were basically useless as they didnt know what to do. I watched Liche pick up the Blue flag and stand still until he was killed. The tunnels with the health vials are maybe a bit too narrow as you get stuck in them if you kill an opponent.

Still, for a first time its ok and easily better than what I could do, dont give up! :o)

Not bad for a first effort. But yes, I'd have to say anyone would think it's too small. You can run from flag to flag in less than 10 seconds. And this is compounded by the fact that there are spawn points half way to the flag, so if you spawn there you can run and grab the flag in about 4 seconds. This kind of makes all those circular hallways useless ... if you spend the time to run down one of those the other team can cap your flag a couple times before you get back. And I also agree those back halls are too narrow ... I killed a bot in one and then couldn't get by the dead body.

All that being said, I haven't tried it online with my buddies ... it might be fun with a live group. I'll report back if it plays well ... hell, my group *loves* small maps ... that's all we make, check out mine.

BTW, I got to the keg simply by jumping while the elevator was going up to give me that extra boost.

Keep up the good work ... I hope you try another CTF when you're done with AS.

Well, with that short right angle from base to base, who has time to explore tunnels collecting health vials or going upstairs in a quest for the keg, unless you want to be a very healthy loser. Some good running and hopping (or translocating) will get you the flag in no time. 2 for nice looks and 1 for first map=3.
