Wow, a big box with a couple of pillars and flat square brushes! It's a sight for sore eyes... if you want to make them worse. Be afraid, very afraid of this map... It works, but that's the sad part, because youll wish it didnt if you actually download this.

The author may claim we are jerks,
But I cannot describe this map's quirks.
The map is too plain
And though it causes me pain,
I regret to inform that it works.

OK, OK people, I'm sorry, I'm a newbie, but I've submitted this map too long before I've finished and I've seen too por maps, more poor than this. And if you got a Intel Celeron PC with 24 MB of RAM and 4 GB of capacity in your hard disk ¿which thing you can do in UED?

EDIT: Shao, I'm Argentinian. In this country I can't buy a better computer. Adding 32 MB more of RAM costs me 28 dollars (84 argentinian pesos).

EDIT 2: I think that's the first map in NC that includes Spanish translation. I've downloaded lots of maps and I haven't see a map with this.

We have to give the people making maps a break..They try. It's not like they are getting paid for it. The map is simple..True. but he tried so, A+ for effort C- for map..Keep trying you will only get better!

I'm sorry, but applauding people for making bad maps is the wrong idea. Sure, it seems like the caring, compassionate thing to do, but in fact it's cruel, it's cruel to tell somebody they did a good job, when in fact they didn't. I don't agree with slapping down 0s on n00bs, and making sarcastic comments. However, going "OMFD LEET EFFORT AWESOEM" is counterproductive. Constructive criticism is called for here.

To the mapper:
You got the basics of the editor down, and you got everything working. That's good, however, some advice:
We all have to learn to make maps that are worth playing, and it takes time and practice. I suggest that as you keep mapping you post your map in the testing forum, get people to give you criticism, and listen to what they have to say. Just posting it here is likely to get you nothing but annoying comments.

Also, look at maps that are out there, make a copy of it with a different name, open it in UEd and pull it apart. When you're playing, make mental notes of gameplay features, about how the map layout directs the flow of action.

Also, on the roof of the blue base, there is some sort of BSP error, and you get crushed. This is caused by the round pillars on the top of the roof, they create a large number of BSP cuts, and on a large surface like the roof that led to errors, setting the geometry slider to 10 instead of 15 in the rebuild menu fixed the error, but for the future, try to touch round ends to small brushes, that way the bsp cuts won't affect large areas.

Oh, and light properties can be changed, simply right-click on the light, and choose Properties in the popup menu. In the new dialog, the settings for Light Color and Light Properties provide most controls for the light, play around with those settings to learn how to make brighter lights, instead of using a whole lot of default lights.

Jeez. Some of you people are frying this guy alive for contributing a map that plays well.

Okay, there's some ugliness...so what? The improvements will come with v][. I just can't see 1's and 0's which would put this level in a class with some Godawful garbage that we all know too well. My gripe which is more related to gameplay not looks...too many dead ends. A road should take you somewhere for your effort. I'd like to see this map tweaked a bit more.

Or we can just keep commenting on old maps by AngelHeart, Hourences, El Chicoverde, etc.

Good first job Armageddon_Man.

Bot 40: Don't know your other maps, but Wether is a big favorite on our server (WOPR NYC). Terrific game play. Still think you're being a tad tough on the man.

Giving a score based on the amount of effort put in is completly meaningless.
It's hard to accept, but the truth is that putting a lot of effort doesn't mean **** if the map doesn't pull through, and giving the map a high score just because the author tried a bit just gives a false impression of the map and like LoserMan already said, in the long run, it's cruel.
If everyone gave all his maps 5/10 just because he put some effort in then someday he's finally going to realise that he isn't the best mapper ever, and that's a lot more soul crushing than people giving constructive critisism so he can improve his maps.

I'm gonna give the map a 2/10 because I've played the map and I think honistly this is the score the map deserves.
It's the classic novice mapper problem, where they've dived in and tried to create a map with a theme which they thought would be cool. Unfortunatly, this is probably the wrong way to go about it.
People are going to kill me for this, but imo when you first start mapping, the best thing to do is actually to create a non-themed map. By which I mean something like your standard warehouse/industrial map where you can concentrate on learning to create good architecture, creating a decent layout and lighting your level. Learn from other maps, copy elements from them, then try to come up with your own arcitectural ideas.
A basic starting point would be soemthing like DM-Pah. It's got yer basic stuff like trim, ramps, okish lighting. Heavilly outdated and nothing amazing, but yer standard stuff is in there. Until you can create something roughly that good then I wouldn't bother trying to make a heavilly themed map such as a city or a castle.
There are many maps which I have made in my past where I attempted to do a theme, and now I wish I had waited a bit before I was technically more advanced with the editor because basicly, I could have done a much better job. I wasted the idea because I wasn't experienced enough to make the map convincing.

I think the Bubba feels a lot like me, and is just frustrated at so many lame zero ratings from noob reviewers

A case in point is another new map I recently commented on, CTF-Canada something-or-other. Right off the bat 2 lamers give it a zero. It's textures are fine, it has different zones with an underwater area, no bsp or other errors I've noticed, the bots give you a decent battle, and there's some interesting architecture ... but they rate it a zero just because it's not their style of map. So don't play it, but it's nowhere near a zero. I have a feeling that most people who rate maps a zero are just frustrated mappers who either failed making a good map themselves and got their own creations panned, or more than likely they never created their own map(s) 'cus they couldn't figure out the editor.

Even this map which has many problems gets at least a 1 just 'cus it works and someone honestly tried, and I'd actually give it a 2 because, despite all it's errors, it might actually be a fun battle if you play it with a group of live players. But yes, it needs a lot of work.

First off, fix the error on the roof that kills you. Secondly, those roadways that end with you running into the skybox are horrendous and have to go. End the alleys with brick walls or something. And the skybox itself, with the huge road texture attached to the floor, is terrible. I guess other than those major problems, I'll go along with the reviewer who suggested looking at a lot of other maps for ideas. With the errors fixed and some fine tuning this map could score a 3 or 4, but it's just not interesting enough to score much higher as is.

[Edit:]
Gettin' better.... I'll throw V105 on my server this weekend to live battle test it. Good work... keep practicing!

[Edit: again]
Well, we played it on the server, me and my small group of 5 or 6, and it was actually really fun! Fighting amongst the pillars with machine guns was a blast. I give it a 2 for looks and a 4 for playability.

lol this aint fair i only got a 2 for my map. More than one person here has given a 5 rating. Stop the sympathetic high ratings!!!!

I'd also like to say : HAVING A BAD PC IS NOT AN EXCUSE. I designed my maps on a 200mhz pc which is 8 years old. So don't give me that...

Edit : Superkag will u stop it. lol.

And 4 Superkag, plz BE not so stupid to make spam for your own map, that hurts really like hell. So stop with that

e.g. Visit a Car park!

But, nice try anyway

Well nothing to say to you Armaggedon, I know you :)

Raulo, that is a very amusing comment but telling us all to "go to the poo" isn't gonna make this poor guy's map any better.
As for the map, it's a nice attempt but it's not quite average.
