| sibn 04-13-2003 01:00 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | EvilVey has done a nice job with this map. My only two gripes are fairly minor:
First, the skybox is completely uninspiring. Not a big issue, because I spend more time looking at the playing field. Which is actually the second problem.
When I stand at one flag and stare in the direction of the other, there are not that many things in my Field of View; and the things that are there have simple geometry. Yet the frame rate plummets. This is (on the whole) not a major issue, even when returning from the enemy flag base. I'd like to know what the cause of this is. If I look up or down at a 45, then the frame rate goes back to perfectly normal.
Anywhere else in the map, I have not observed the second flaw, but at the extreme back rows (where the flags are). 1/4 of the way across the map, for example, the problem vanishes.
I would also like to point out that as far as I can tell, this map is more visually impressive than either Forest Dream or Burn.
The floor plan is actually pretty nice, though it'd be refreshing to see the bots running through the trenches, rather than just up and over the buildings; but that's not even important. The map itself is fairly large, appears to be (at least more or less) symmetrical, and the level of detail is good. I cannot vouch for the sound, because don't usually play with sound on. This is going to be one of those maps I hang on to for a while.

Otherwise a nice map to play, even thou CTF is not my style of game. Just watch out for bots dropping on your head when your taking the flag back.

Why should I run all the way to the side only to cut back to the middle to get the flag when there is an almost linear path? Bots are terrible at defense as well, perhaps add some defense points on the ledges for better defense. Not a keeper and oh yeah, pretty ugly too.
