A map made out of 100 catwalks in a large valley, in a lava type of world. So if you are a fan of running over a few hundred catwalks above some lava, then you will like the gameplay in this map, but for all other people there just isn`t enough to keep you interested, game after game. Floorplan looks pretty random to me. Next to that the map is really open, so you get a rather high polycount at times, and pretty low FPS. But it was still more or less playable on my PC.
Visually it`s ok, nothing outstanding or special but not "uber" boring either. The copied sky is fine, and lava particles live it up a bit. On a few spots there are quite a few misaligned meshes, and I also think the lightning could have been a lot better, by having some lamps around the map for instance, casting another color of light, or just pure white. Would be a good contrast with the normal redish-white with the black shadows. Other thing is that the mountains look so flat again, like in so many maps. It always looks like the mountains, and the whole world, just stop there. You don`t see any other mountains in the distance, a land that streches out deep into the horizon, nothing like that. It just stops.
So in general an average map, that doesn`t really stand out.

[sibn: no, thanks much. deal with wankers here with a 7,000 byte limit or the forums with no such limit? I think not. ;) no hard feelings though. matter of mapper being careful or not, not really anything to discuss. ]
| SealClubber 04-11-2003 04:21 AM MDT | Rating: 5 | | lots of twists and turns
| Gargorias 04-13-2003 12:44 AM MDT | Rating: 8 | | This map runs a little slow on my machine but hey with the advances in CPU and memory speed and Video Cards we can expect that some released maps will noy play on our systems and we should not be rating them if that is the case. A possible reason for a bit of slowdown on this map was the fact that the author has used two terrain brushes. It is not easy to create a map for someone elses machine. SIBN: Don't worry man, I started the thread and here it is: http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=156450

I can't deny that DM-Burn is not a rather mediocre map, but I can't see any considerably lower framerates then in say Slaughterhouse or December.
| Fuzzy Logic 04-12-2003 06:27 AM MDT | Rating: 5 | | The map has flow but isn't anything special. There are a lot of ramp maps out there, and there's nothing to make this one stand out.
The fps averaged 38 which is about a third of what I would expect for this type of map. Perhaps a little more attention to map playability is in order.
| Nanikore 04-13-2003 01:27 PM MDT | Rating: 5 | | It's a throughly playable map and with AA enabled it's still playable. It was a rather busy battle with bots on the ramps, rather amusing even. The map isn't awe-inspiring but there's still fun potential.
