I got lost so many times the bots had scored twice before I was actually able to find the base. Then I got the flag and got killed and had to find the damn thing all over again. Lava is somewhat annoying since it is placed in areas where a flagrunner is most likely to go. Running backword blowing away defenders then falling in a pit to recieve the message you Crashed and Burnt really can piss you off. Items are pretty hard to come by for a map of this size.
| SirTahngarth 03-07-2003 09:10 AM MST | Rating: 5 | | I agree with most of the above. It's a decent map, but with some general tweaking in every category, this can be a good map with more work. keep it up, hope to see an updated one.
It seems that nalicity doesnt like red screenshots, and colors them blue. It only seems to do with lava maps and whatever happens to be mostly red. Any ideas admins?

I suppose if you had extremely fast machines set up on a LAN and you were willing to deal with 640x480 and have everything set to low, you could get away with it. The question then, is why bother when there are so many other good levels out there that play well right out the zip file.
| Luggage 03-10-2003 10:43 PM MST | Rating: 4 | | That red-screenshots-turning-blue thing must be an issue with DXT compressed screenshots... But the author can easily fix that by uploading them uncompressed. Map looks interesting, gonna download it. Sorry for rating without knowing it yet, but here's a neutral 5 for you. I'll get back when I've played it :)
EDIT: Alright... this map is in heavy need of optimization. That's to say, IT LAGS LIKE HELL. :) Apart from that it's pretty nice. The lighting is indeed a bit red, and could have used more variation. Nice consistent theme, and some cool particle effects. The lava zones get a bit annoying at first, when you don't know where they are yet... and I managed to drop through the ground in the lake behind the red base I think. Gameplay seems a bit linear, but it's okish overall. Now please do something about the performance!. Thanks :)
Final verdict: 5 for looks and atmosphere, 3 for technical build. Sorry if it seems a bit harsh, but performance optimization is a critical factor of level design.
| solaris 05-02-2003 03:00 AM MDT | Rating: 7 | | the first thing that came to my mind as i opened FallenMoon was: "Wow!" Problem (as mentioned before) is: this map is a piece of art rather than a "I'll frag you with fps=60-map". i agree with Luggage about performance optimization. i give this map a 7 because i like art-maps and to even out the bad ratings a bit and reward you for all the work that went into this map.
