| Friendly Bob 03-06-2003 05:47 PM MST | Rating: 5 | | This map has great potential. Coming across as an Egyptian themed equivalent of the void maps in Quake 3, SpaceNoxx is best played with a very small amount of players. The architecture, while not original, is solid and makes great use of some of the standard Egypt Meshes. Lighting is spot on, casting some atmospheric shadows, while the skybox looks nice if a little too familiar ;) . Where the map falters is in it's item placement. Whoah dude! Slow down will ya! I think there is just about one of every weapon type in this map, possibly bar the Redeemer. I can honestly say that they are, in my opinion, not needed! The ion painter, while a nice touch, seems particularly redundant as, 9 times out of 10, the user will get caught up in the blast radius. You should, in my opinion, keep down the weapons to use only the ones that would work well with the map layout. I would recommend Rocket Launcher, Lightning, Shock and possibly Link. It also seems as if some great Egyptian deity (hey, the dictionary won't let me use the G word!) has puked powerups all over the arena! There's tons of them! Hey, I know that item placement is possibly THE single hardest thing to get right in any map, but keep working at it. Not too much, not too little.
Verdict - The mapper shows great potential with his use of geometry and meshes, but some more consideration really needs to go into that item placement. Keep it up! 5 as is, but possibly a 7 if the items were better.

What made the old spacenox actually playable was the fact that it was built with low gravity. Second there are super weapons here for no reason. Lighting bland. Gameplay the map is too small to be a spacenoxx remake and that ramp area for the rocket looks like it was just added there cuz you though it looked cool.

If fixed, and made low grav, it will be doing enough things that give this map its mappers voice to make it a remake worth playing. Thankfully, not a direct port :)

The addition of that building doesn't add a thing to gameplay. Actually it would be better without that building. The textures look wrong. The skybox looks wrong. Lighting is bland. The proportions of this version seem different then the original spacenoxx. Another conversion down the drain. I hope CTF-McSwarty for UT2003 is better then this map.
