A perfect example of why reading the first set of comments from NC users should NOT influence your decision to play the map. This map looks like a learning attempt to me, and since the authors put in an obvious effort, I’m gonna refrain from my usual ‘kick-the-map-in-the-nuts’ routine. Instead, I’ll try to be nice. It won’t be easy, but I gotta try doing this sometime.
Visually, the map is undeveloped. It uses basic structures with a small catalog of textures from the Ancient pack. The brushwork is crude and placed unwisely in places. This causes serious framerate issues, which I’ll get into later. Simply put, this is a casual newbie temple map. It uses all the undesirable textures that everyone else tries to avoid, boasts techno music to amplify the souless atmosphere, and uses too many door and button movers for deathmatch. The authors tried to use more present day techniques like loose bricks and tile debris, but it remains unconvincing in such a cubic map, plus they are textured out of alignment. I applaud them for trying such stuff so early in the learning phase, most mapper’s of this skill level stick to the primitive subtraction and additives. Lighting matches the rest of the looks. I can understand where the authors were coming from, my first mapping attempts looked very much like this (Only I had tech textures and my map was loaded with 80 Unreal sharks which flopped around because they had no air and I would shoot rockets at them).
Gameplay was better at least then the looks, though some errors kept the map’s score low. Flow and playability are hurt badly by stuttering framerates, I believe this was caused by faulty brush placement since there isn’t much else here to cause such problems. There are a lot of places to go, but you can get caught places easily. The doors are framed ok, but not necessary. It just is uninspired mostly and the fun factor just isn’t there. And the playability problems don’t help. Sorry guys.
The Prophet’s Verdict: More study needed, and better maps can come of this. I don’t recommend the map really since the looks won’t impress smart players (I say smart players because all the stupid people have already commented and gave this map 9s, 10s, or whatever. You guys suck, you’ve effectively over-inflated another learning mapper’s ego. Laugh with glee you douche cakes) and the gameplay stutters when it seems like it shouldn’t. All mappers go through this phase, even if they try to hide it from the public

If your'e having fun with this map, youre only going to have it once. play it a couple more tims and see if you still think its a 10. weak geometry, weak gameplay, lots of errors. doesnt take long to see all of this. I was already not having fun the first time, so I didnt bother trying again.
