AUTHORS NOTE: Okay, this is an old map for me. It was completed roughly around the time that PlanetUnreal NC shut down and therefore was never uploaded. I think it is one of the more accomplished classic UT maps I created and posted it for completist value. Download, and check it out! See if you can find those hidden powerups...

The pic on the map page doesn’t do this map justice. Well, yes it does, but this map isn’t so bad.
The map uses some UT crypt textures and brick stuff used in Curse, Codex, ect. Like those maps, there is no theme except a random brick and stone old-style arena. Lighting is basic, and so is general design. The author used the 2D shape editor to carve out his hallways and twisting corridors, which is good, but he didn’t quite merge the polys so you can notice intersections on the arch faces. Compared to the UT’s Curse type maps, this map is ok, not quite worth the average rank, so I gave it a 1. It needs some polishing in here to spice it up some, it is very generic the way it is now. Lifts use a simple base texture and look unconvincing.
The map does play ok, but suffers from an overdose of Room-Corridor-Room syndrome. Some of those corridors are much too long. Aside from the straight paths that make up most of the layout, there are some intersecting areas, which I was thankful for. Bots actually play the map well, considering. I should take off another half point for the strange item placement in the map, but Im in a good mood cus I got some nookie earlier and dont feel like being a complete dick atm. Overall, it just quite isn’t the playing standard most players are used to. 1 for Cast.
The Prophet’s Verdict: Generic theme with not so impressive gameplay. It gives it a good shot though, d/l play and judge for yourself.

| Friendly Bob 03-06-2003 01:16 PM MST | | Just to get the comment ball rolling, read the note above. Some feedback would be cool, but bear in mind that this map is a year or so old. Still, I thought it was good fun when I was building it, and it enjoyed some quality playtime on our Uni lan. Enjoy!
ADDITIONAL - Wahey! Commentage! Okay, looks like theres some mixed oppinions about this one. As I said, the map is pretty old. Damn, I don't think I'VE even played it in several months! I guess I was just looking for some feedback so I could compare it to any feedback I get for my new work (my new map CTF-Baal is currently being cleared by NC and should be available any time now!). As for the uber items, they are hidden Doom style in wall cavities. You can find them by shooting at certain parts of wall. Later!
Hey PapaBear! Remember this is an old map. I've learned more on the benefits of invisible walls (and of course 2K3's ever useful blocking volumes) since then. But, fair comment...
| Momoka 03-03-2003 05:54 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | Hi I have took a look at this map. In my opinion this is a fine map, eventhought its only made out of a few corridors and some small rooms,it still has very much possibilities. The creator of the map has done a good thing, that he not placed the Missile Launcher and Flag Cannon, but i still do miss a little bit the Pulse Rifle and Minigun, they would be a nice addition to the map(this is definetly NOT the map for the Ripper...^^). The map has even one good place, where u see(and hear)througt the window a little waterfall. He should put in some more of that little interesting places. The map is meant to be made for 4-8 players,i would suggest u play it with 5/6-10 players, but the creator should place some more Heal items,a Pulse Gun and a Minigun(inclusive some more ammo).
Overall, one of the better maps,at least for my taste.Very nice is the motion of the Lights(if u keep in mind how often u see moving objects in maps...).BTW i would give this map a 8,if there will be more items on it,and a Pulse Gun and a Minigun.

The layout’s not bad except its room-corridor-room and has some lengthy corridors. The gameplay ain’t that bad either, and there’s a decent amount of z-axis. The main problem is the items. Mostly, where are they? There’s only three weapons (bio, shock, and sniper), with only two ammo packs each. Get some more weapons in there! Also, on a more subjective note, the map felt cramped to me – I think it’s that the rooms are small, at least in comparison to the corridors. That low score is mostly for the VERY limited gameplay due to lack of weapons, but there’s clearly potential here; if there were enough weapons to have a decent game (Without the biorifle, ack!), the map wouldn’t be so bad. *Although potential doesn’t usually go into the score, I felt that it should for this map because the potential is so evident.
| Valviac 03-05-2003 01:45 PM MST | Rating: 3 | | this map looks kinda boring, exists mainly of corridors, BAAAD item placement (really bad). i do like the topside, it looks good, less cramped :p. bots play fairly good, but the crappy item placement completely ruins the fun factor of this map.
| PapaBear 03-05-2003 06:26 PM MST | Rating: 6 | | Interesting enough map, some cool effects, but I agree, enlarge the rooms a bit and more ammo! One other thing too, if you are going to allow me to T/L over the gate, don't make me fall off of the map - fortunately I could T/L back up into the game, but if I can go there give me a cookie or something.
| Sauron 03-15-2003 08:54 AM MST | Rating: 7 | | 3 only?, i think this map deserves minimum a 5. Good work
| Hitoshi 11-07-2003 11:58 AM MST | Rating: 5 | | There's some really nice looking architecture here and the texturing was very thought out. 3 is way too harsh.
