DOM-BlueStarMountain | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dom-bluestarmountain.zip | Author | lightninghunter | Gametype | UT Domination | Date Added | 02-18-2003 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 2.72 mb | Player Count | 6-16 | Map Description | This is an older map of mine. The lighting and textures aren't nearly as good as I could do now, but the map is very fun. This map is a big mountain surrounded by cliffs with just one domination point up on top of the mountain. Even though the outdoor area is big, it runs perfectly smooth since not too much is visible at once. Every one starts out at the bottom of the mountain and has to run to the top. Team cooperation is mandatory in this map since you have to constantly kill the other team on top. The top of the hill is defined with walls that are short enough to jump over. Bots play perfectly and provide a nice challenge. I sometimes find them grouping together and swarming up like ants. I really like the game play of this map and might remake it someday. I could do so many things better in it now. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 6 | Overall Rating | -- |

A nice idea, what with only one control point. It makes domination seem a little more fast-paced than usual. Usually, one finds oneself in a situation where defending from a couple of directions is the flavour of the day. With this map, attacks come from all sides at any given time. The other point of note is the tower atop the mountain itself. After seeing the huts which appear to be perfectly architecturally acceptable, one scales the mountain to find this gleaming abomination mounted by a sniper rifle. The merlons are not even aligned to the edges of the wall, a mistake not made after you 3rd brush or so you ever place in UnrealEd. It ends up giving the impression of a giant zit, lacking any form of synergy and ruining the simplistic appeal of the level.
Had this maps author spent a little more time to beautify this level or polish it off, it may have received a higher score from me.
In a nutshell; novel, but needing.

But with Rocket Launchers only, the action is fast and furious up there...

The author also got the "Sky.utx" texture package from another game... Rune...
