I had to play this a few times before I could come to my conclusion, the map is so…borderline, I couldn’t decide till after an extensive playtime (I’ve sat on this one since last week). Here it goes…
Visually, the map is average. It feels a lot like an Epic map at times, mainly because of how things are structured and because it uses textures only an Epic mapper would have the guts to use. Lighting isn’t genius, but it is effective and not over the top. There really is that sense of generic-theme here, you know you’re in some olden style building, but there just isn’t anything in here to point out what exactly. It’s just your average UT fighting environment. There is a custom track included, which actually is refreshing. Normally a map like this would be fitted with raw guitar tunes or techno. Overall, I felt the place was a faceless, effective complex that doesn’t have a real awareness of atmosphere.
The map is big, I’ll give it that. I would have liked the gameplay much better but a good portion of this map is submerged in water, and that does hinder the beloved fast pace that speed players adore, myself included. Aside from the overabundance of water, it is possible that people will suffer slowdown, I myself didn’t experience any, but it did stutter momentarily in a few rounds. I actually enjoyed the game somewhat, bots play rather well here, despite the wetness. There are some places where you can get snagged and a few other movement issues, which kinda detract from the overall pleasure of the game. Add a point if you like lots of swimming in your games. I’ll stick to my pool.
The Prophet’s Verdict: Fairly average map that could use some touch-ups on the gameplay. I recommend that you play it yourself, since I was so uncertain how to accurately rate this one. Not a bad romp for the Prophet.

| StoneViper 03-06-2003 12:23 PM MST | | Prophet, thanks for the Review! i actually enjoyed hearing someone elses point of view other than [ www.unrealplayground.com/review.php?id=486 ].
Water only takes up the underground passageways, leaving the majority of the map above the water. i mainly meant it for an escape route when about to die.
i agree with you on the lighting. i was never good at lighting a map. bots are my specialty. all maps i path have great bot support.
this is my last map i'll make, due mostly to the fact i have no time anymore.
Thanks once again for the Review!
