Small CTF, basically consists out of 1 big room with a flag on both ends, a slime pool in the middle, and 2 side corridors with warpthings. That being said you already know how simple this map is. I played the original CTF-FME as well, and it's certainly an improvement compared to that, but it's still far from great.
Architecture is simple, made out of basic shapes such as cubes and cylinders most of the time, but at least there's some trimming at some spots. Texturing isn't exactly mind-blowing either, certainly not in combination with the lighting, which is made up of green, red and blue colors. A combination that should be outlawed. All the smaller lamps throughout the map aren't seem to give off light as well, they are unlit, they have a corona, and that's where it ends, they don't affect the nearby geometry. On a positive note the map at least isn't overlit, still some darker spots and shadows around. I can't find any sounds, and the music is just the good old razor ub again.
I know that version 1 of this map is being played a lot, particular in insta, and one would argue "but this is a hardcore insta map and made for gameplay !", but if you call this hardcore gameplay you need medical treatment. The gameplay is simple, it's the horrible andaction style a lot of insta players seem to love for god knows what reason, 1 room, a flag on both ends, that's it. At least one positive point about the gameplay is that the author tried to add something extra to this boring room running. There are 2 corridors on both sides of the cube with a warpzone in, you can jump on the bars near the ceiling with the jumpboots, and you can also go swim in the slime if you want. But other then that, it's still a cube, and it's still utterly boring. There is simple botpathing, they know where the other flag is, but that's about all they know, and most of the time they don't even have weapons due to the fact that they don't know how to reach all the weapons that lay on the bars near the ceiling.
Simple map, that lacks lots of things before it can be considered near average, however it's a positive improvement over the first version, so that's a good thing. |

| Hourences 08-15-2003 04:31 PM MDT | Rating: 2 | | I played over 200 clanwars from which half of them were in insta, and I played version 1 of this map about an hour online with 3 friends in insta, and it doesnt play very well. its highly reperative and thus boring.
insta already is (and always will be) more simple than normal weapons, but that doesnt mean that it has to be this bad. theres more possible to give the gameplay extra depth, things like a floorplan and sounds from doors/jumppads/water/wood to enhance the strategic play
if I would have reviewed this map with 100 % insta gameplay it would have still only got 2 since it lacks floorplan/gameplay enhancing sound/theme/ambient sound/light/everything else
