This is an interesting idea for a map. You're in some oriental-style gardens, which stretch on for eternity due to portals. Architecture is fairly simple, except for the gazebo-style roofs. Would be fun, except for sheer number of bugs and unplayable framerate.
The map itself is quite small, but the author decided to extend it by using portals, so essentially, when you walk down a hallway, it renders 4 or 5 more maps in front of you. Fire off the ASMD secondary fire, and watch the balls float down the hallway for eternity! (just be careful they dont hit you in the back of the head) Its like watching a slideshow, and theres nothing grand we're seeing here as in Falkenstein to make it worthwhile, and trust me, this is a Falkenstein framerate.
To make matters worse, theres a whole bunch of Unreal pawns like Pupae running around. Due to your slow-to-react state (crippled framerate) these more often than not will frag you. They also provide you with a point if you kill them. Bad decision to include these, it would have faster without then and there just annoying.
An interesting idea but unplayable. Also the bots look distorted,as though they were in a mirror. I think this is due to the authors use of warp zones. Try making a map with a hallway filled with mirrors, kills the framerate the same way.
Sorry, I would have enjoyed your map if the framerate was playable. An interesting concept but ruined by performance.
| Yrag 12-27-2002 04:58 PM MST | Rating: 3 | | To start with 10 out of 10 for inovation, but you went toooooo far, the whole thing just screws with ya head, I was logging 350 poly's in all directions this is not good for performance and blabla you are right the bots were all distorted, freaky!!! Good effort!
