This map is in a strange way and rather unexplainably somewhat fun to play after all. Stressing "somewhat". The looks are blank, boring, dull, with no discernable consistant theme. Architecture is mostly basic shapes, what's worse dominated by cubes. Most rooms are strikingly empty. Bot pathing is found wanting badly. With broken paths all over, even a few playerstarts not correctly connected to the pathnnode network, with at least one door, and one lift beyond their intelligence.
So why then is it even remotely fun?!? Well...hard to tell. For one it is huge. Huge as in everything is gigantic and out of proportion. Though while on one hand that is naturally a drawback, on the other hand it gives the map a weird feel and atmosphere, also since some of the surreal color choices and combinations (blue carpets & green walls for example), remind the avid fragger of days of scimitar yore. What's more, as sad as the architecture might look, it is quite varied in style, and (though the flow is very bad) once I had been to every place on the map, I knew and remembered each individual room, simply because they looked so completely different from one another.
By the end of the day, however, this is all but a good map, and as such I would only suggest it to people fond of the dm-bathroom-ish "me=small--world=big-thingy". Finally, I would like to point out that the author's suggested playercount of 8 to 10 is a bad joke. Forget playing this map with any number lower than 16. Me personally, I fired it up in TeamDM with 16 a team, and even added a few more bots later on, and that didn't hurt the game, either. |

| gyokusai 12-24-2002 03:40 PM MST | Rating: 4 | | Nice map, I really like it, including mirrors, traps and stuff. (I'm somewhat partial to large industrial/urban jungle hide-and-seek affairs.) Needs some polishing, though. Lots of dead ends. And, dang!, get your pathnoding up to par! We're living in the 21st century!
At the current state of affair, I'd give it a 4. With decent pathnoding, a 5. With some polishing, a 6, with more maybe more. Textures could be more interesting, at times. But it's fun--so go on & surprise us!

You need to: Add more stuff, it seems so empty. Get some cool textures. Put more traps in (It would make it have its own type of personality) Right now your just combining all other people ideas, stick to a theme. Its pretty good but the bots would stay in a corner. I would rate this a 5, but you need to make it look good, and make it have its own personality. Its a good start

-Room are too empty, need more cover -All doors are set to BumpOpenTimed which is slow, it would be much better if they were TriggerOpened when you get close, this is also the souce of some bot stupidity -Textures as already mentioned could be more interesting -The water on the floor of the 'cave' room is'nt very convincing..try adding a rippleeffect
However, aside from that, a good map, with good flow and enough room to keep it interesting. Item placement is generally well thought out (except for the biorifle - what the hell is it doing there? - if Im gonna venture out onto a narrow ledge, better at least be for the ASMD :D )
Edit: I liked it and would have given it a higher rating if there was more stuff in the rooms. Its just too empty. BTW, the mirror doorway is a neat trick :)
