flanny 12-17-2002 07:04 PM MST Rating: 9   I really like the style and theme of this map. The steep canyon walls with trees scattered everywhere. One problem though is once you get to the items on top of the rock structures, there's not very much vertical space. It would have been better if the ceiling was raised some more. Definitely an 8+. The terrain makes for great running combat through the trees with plenty of cover to move through but nothing to spoil the flow. But - I've got niggles. Small niggles that don't itch much but I'll list 'em anyway. Yeah, the sky is way too low. It feels like there's a glass ceiling up there. It could be a brighter, sunnier sky too but that's just a matter of taste. Also it'd be nice if (possible?) the leaves on the trees didn't block weaponfire because it gets annoyingly hard to snipe someone running below :/ There are two irritating 'traps' at the rocket ammo and the ShockRifle ammo (Blue base) where you suddenly stop dead against a sharp edge in the terrain. (Sounds trivial but the flow is so good, running up against them pains.) The damn birdies! The author added birdsong to make it seem more 'foresty' or something. Well uh, that was nice but maybe next time he could get quieter birds that sing less. A lot less! Final verdict - I played this map over and over with UberDeath's UberPain mutator - and it ROCKS!
