Map DescriptionMy son plays Counter-Strike everyday religiously, so I decided to remake his favorite CS map (de-aztec) into a UT2K3 Deathmatch map so he'd feel at home when I kill him in UT2003. Welcome to the DOUBLE DOMINATION version of Aztec! NOTE: This is REVISION 1 of the FINAL VERSION.

DOM-Aztec[FuT] is a remake of a CounterStrike map, but I tried not to hold that against it. ;-) Strangely enough, there's little in this level that makes me think 'Aztec'.

Your battle is staged outside, and there are several paths to each DD control point (this is good). If you take a more-or-less circuitous route, you'll be the beneficiary of the two major weapons caches, each containing three weapons and an ammo pack. There's nothing much to hide behind here, so when you die and respawn, get 'yer ass in gear. Spawn points are far enough away from control points to at least make it interesting.

What I Liked:

Visually this map is fine, frame rates are good, playability is fair. Will probably play well online. Shield is well-placed.

What I Didn't Like:

When defending the 'B' control point, I noticed a stupid bot going up and down the stairs in a loop. The theme is not Aztec, belying the name. I would have done more with the layout and item placement. There's no reason to have three weapons in one place with ammo. I don't care what CS does - it's wrong.

Overall:

Not too shabby. I'll look for this map online somewhere and give it a go.

This may be a remake, but it is most definately one of my favorite DD maps now. The DD version of this map plays MUCH better than the DM version. This map is designed and balanced for team play and it can get pretty nasty at the choke points...like the original.

Finally, an asymetrical DOM map that plays well! loses a little credit for being a remake and only mediocre lighting, but plays great and is not symetrical, yet well balanced and a ton of fun! If you havent played DOM yet, give it a chance on this map.

-EDIT- The revision consists mostly of corrections to minor visual glitches. For the sake of staying bug free if you downloaded this a while ago, you should download it again now.

Review is nearly spot on. This map is very overated. Has this community forgotten what quality feels like?

When looking for a good UT2003 map this one lacks. Very bland map for UT2003. The only thing is its fun to play online :) .

i like CS so i like this map for that aspect and it looks a lot like the original too.

thats about all i liked about the map sadly
the bots always go for the weapons at spawn
and can be easily slaughtered for it
also the double damage is not needed
(it is too close to red spawn anyway)
