This isn’t a great map, but it’s a good one. A lot of work and imagination went into it. I can appreciate the effort. With 16 players, the map has a good feel. It’s really busy in some places, and other spots let you catch your breath and plan your next move. Then there are plenty of spots that are between these two extremes. In fact, there are quit a few places to frag, beckoning a diverse fighting style.
The bots worked very well, thought was given to the item placement, the visuals are pretty good, and the sounds help to add some atmosphere. The lighting was also done rather well. Z-axis is all over the place as you battle inside and outside of a large complex. The little extras added give this one an additional point. |

| Mxtrmntr 12-16-2002 02:12 PM MST | Rating: 5 | | sure, it's a kinda ambitious and original map, but in the end, graphics and gameplay are both not too great.
| gyokusai 12-16-2002 02:19 PM MST | Rating: 5 | | Hm, yep, it's nice but... maybe it's just stupid me, but from 4 to 5 bots on, either me or the map or both seem to have a serious game flow problem due to the pick-up locations. Even with weapons stay on, I often enough find myself running around frantically with a half emptied Enforcer, just seconds away from getting wasted at the very next corner.
Within some the rooms, by the way, the size doesn't feel "right"--as if the players were a bit too "tall," and were trashing around in a doll house.

It's fun to play because of both the overall openess and close-quarters of the design, which is deceptively large. The in/outdoors design allows for the option to move rapidly throughout areas likely to have intense scraps and to quickly escape to areas offering better safety if need be. The connectivity is very good. Stealth and ambush tactics can also be favoured due to the layout. I find the placement of pickups and health ok. They're fairly sparce and so success depends more on skill...and luck! Triggered ambient sound, utx choices and decoration really add alot to the feel of the map and the map runs smoothly. GG Smeerkat!! CasaLoma is a fun map to play. It will do well online I'm sure. I don't rate maps with a number but must I see... Idlewild
