Domination has been considered a dead gametype by many (not counting Double Domination for UT2003) and while this map makes an attempt to be a inventful DOM map, it doesnt quite make its mark.

Visually the map is rather boxy throughout, though there are a few interesting additions here and there you normally dont see in simplistic maps...cracks in the floor, bloody floor bricks, spider webs, and even trim for bridges. The map uses that new crypt texture pack that came with UT, you know those brown textures that make you think of Quake 3? Lighting is provided by mainly torches or lava and is rather bland. The theme is a temple of some sort but it really isnt developed.

I played a few rounds with bots and they did ok, although they never seemed to make an attempt to take my 3rd control point on the lower bridge. They stuck to two upperfloor control rooms and I had some running from room to room to recover my lost points (my bot teams always blow). So, even with only those two control points going, it had me on my toes. I did find it repetitive to just run between those two rooms. The gameplay itself is a little lacking, most of the map is tight, which is never good for a team based map. The bots seem to defend the control points by staying right near them and ending up as stains on the walls because they had nowhere to dodge my rockets or shock combos. Oh and also, never add lava to a map that takes time to kill someone but doesnt offer anyway for them to jump out. In a case where you want a lava pitt that the player has no chance of surviving, make it kill them instantly. By making a lava pitt with no way to escape but then making it take 5 seconds to die....thats a waste of time. It just kills flow, plain and simple.

The Prophets Verdict: Not a very good domination map but the visuals show some signs of promise, for the mapper anyway. If you cant make a good DOM map, dont bother. Stick to the easier, DM style until you get your skills up, and then go on to making the harder, team maps.

As M. Prophet says this mapper has a lot of promise/potential.

Now; WHAT IS IT with the originality thing? Why are these maps not original? Are they Quake maps or something?

WHY? WHAT? WHERE? HOW? WHO?!?!?!?!?!
