| Magaera 12-05-2002 12:53 AM MST | Rating: 1 | | Far, far too bright in the indoor areas. There's entirely too much ambient lighting, everything is washed out, low contrast and dazzling.
Play is also stacked against the attackers; the bomb run is an incredibly difficult slog up several sets of stairs -- with running around to the other side of the room to get the next flight up -- to reach the goals. Meanwhile your enemies are spawning in that very defensive area. The cramped ("prison") quarters give little scope for skill in the ball runner's maneuvering. This map is too stacked in favor of the defenders.
The outdoor area is not well considered, either; it's cramped and sharply limits mobility, despite looking like an open space. Startlingly, the floodlit prison yard is much better illuminated than the indoor areas, proof that the mapper was aware of the concept of non-ambient lighting, he just chose not to use it.
Ugly map, bad balance, bad flow.
