Bombing run is similar to football, and this map emphasizes that by taking about three hours to complete a game. I didn’t think I’d ever get a score, but I finally made three points. I gave up after about 20 minutes. I tired it with the bot map count, but I wasn’t having much luck, so I stuck about eleven bots in there with me. I didn’t seem to make much difference; I had extra help, but there were more enemies. Duh! I’m not saying one way or the other whether I like this sort of gameplay, because I imagine some people may enjoy a good challenge, while others need instant gratification. If you want a challenge, then have at it.
You spawn inside a walled-in area, load up on plenty of hardware, then if you want to grab a shield, you’ll need to spend a little extra time to get it from the room where the point ring is. It may be just the edge you need to make it all the way. You pretty much see a barrier terrain with a bridge running over water in the middle of the map. Most of the fighting occurs on the slopes and the bridge. When you go through the point ring, you warp over and fall into the water. The challenge is created mainly from the open space, so it offers you little variation in fighting styles. Not a pretty map, but it gets the job done if you want some gameplay challenge. |

| Magaera 12-04-2002 03:34 AM MST | Rating: 2 | | Sigh. It's not merely cliched, it's a poorly-implemented cliche!
The terrain is uniformly dirt brown, no variation or interest whatsoever. There's a single choke point, a bridge over the fast-flowing river that bisects the map; the ball starts in the center.
It's brightly lit, but that makes no sense because the sky is a starry night texture. The small indoor areas are also brightly lit; unsuprisingly, this makes them ugly.
The bot pathing is nonexistent, but it hardly matters since there's virtually no scope for strategy in the play of the map. It's HUGE, but that size is a whole lotta nothing. And bizarrely, there is a 2x in one distant corner of the map... but by the time you trudge back to the main action, it will have worn off.
This one is a Bad Map.
