The gameplay on the map is a little different. A long, narrow bridge sees quite a bit of action as players vie for the power of the rocket launcher. A jump pad will launch you to the top of the bridge if you find yourself running around in the bowels of the playing field. You skate down the slopes of the hills more than you do fall, so injury is curtailed in this way. The map isn’t huge, but it’s large enough that you’ll probably want at least 10 in there with ya.

I would have liked to seen a little different item placement, since you do a lot of long-ranged fighting, but it could be worse. If you take a trip into a pipe, you can float up to the nuke and seek out a target high above the action. The bots, however, seem to avoid this weapon of mass destruction and they won’t make the hop onto a crane. I checked the map out in the editor and noticed that the bot pathing was confusing the AI. The map looks okay, but it’s the unusual gameplay that I found most appealing.

This is the best map I have seen since Bal3DM3 for Quake3. And definately the best UT2003 map hands down. Simply amazing. This map is huge...and tall as hell. It is mostly outdoor but has some really creative outdoor areas. Very original layout. The first time I saw it on a server it was on low gravity which made it fun as hell. But after a few games I went back to prefer normal gravity. The lighting for this map is perfect. Item placement is excellent. There is even a shield on the end of a crane arm. Bots play real well.

Ok map. If you like really big (but not GMC style) maps, you'll love this one.

An excellent map for high player counts.

I guess I'll start with the drawbacks. Because this is such a huge map, there isn't as good a flow as a tighter map generates. Play will always tend to focus around your particular spawn area, not involve visiting all parts of the map. Higher player counts mean that you'll always have someone to fight nearby -- that's entirely appropriate for this map's design, by the way -- but it does break up the play experience into a series of quick vignettes rather than a coherent flow. The lightning gun is both a blessing and a curse on a map like this. With mostly big open terrain the sniping potential is enormous; on the other hand, a lot of sniping makes UT2k3 one-dimensional and unfulfilling.

Now, the good parts. The attention to detail here is glorious, both on small and large scales. The basic environment is a leftover quarry or similar excavation site; as a result there is a lot of high and low ground, both natural and man-made. The man-made structures fit perfectly with this milieu: an enormous crane, a high trestle bridge, narrow tunnels bored into the hillsides. Placement of the large structures/terrain features is well tuned for the game physics -- low gravity or translocators undermine this careful architecture, be warned!

The overall lighting is simple -- after all, it's an outdoor map under a moonlit sky -- but the highlights make all the difference. The obvious example here is the spotlight on the side of the crane. It doesn't provide any "utility" lighting, just ambiance... but oh, what ambiance! This sort of thematic detail is the difference between "okay" and "excellent."

Bot play is superb, a welcome surprise for third-party maps, and especially welcome on a map designed for large player counts.

This is my favorite big map so far in the UT2k3.

A very nice FFA style map... load up with 12+ players and have fun... A nice big map alternative to the giant map syndrome that plagues servers of late. And it looks nice too, certainly one of the better looking outdoor maps I've seen.

This is a pretty darn good map, mate! Well done! Some areas are a bit dark, and at 30 frags I really don't think I saw the entire thing. Other than that, it's original and quite fun.

very fun 'big' map when played with 8+ people, I love to hunt, and this map gives me that chance in spades.

Im tired of the people who hand out 10s left and right. play this map. play it alot. play it for a week or more. are you still having fun? a 10 map is one that you dont want to stop playing because youre having too much fun. this is a pretty well done map, but its just TOO big almost. and bots dont play it that well. if you think this is the BME (best map ever), you proabbly havent been playing much besides DM-TrainingDay.

Average map. The music track fits well! Quite different compared to other maps, and that's good. I like it.
