Map DescriptionAs with several of my older maps, a release revolving around a gimmick or concept. Here, it was an experiment with TerraEdit. The game takes place entirely across the terrain - simple, but actually pretty fun, and the custom music from Return to Na Pali included simply rocks.

I want to see u make UT2k4 maps now. I see that your maps resemble unreal 1 style, and you should bring this to 2k4.

I never expected my old TerraEdit test map get user feedback, let alone a score of 8 out of 10...

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, I'm an old stick-in-the-mud, and only make maps for UT, mostly of the UT SP variety these days. :)

EDIT: GOD__AM: Now that score seems more like it :). The basis of this map is over three years old and was never more than a TerraEdit test. If I was making it now I'd have smoothed off the terrain and made the cliffs more reachable, as well as adding more detail, but it's a piece of history now so I'm not all that bothered about it. I actually enjoy playing it, however, and have been known to involve myself in the precarious double hammer jump from the Rocket Launcher to the clifftop with the Skaarj ship on it!

EDIT2: redfist: Agreed, TerraEdit is a blank canvas tool, and a crappy one at that. If I was making a map in this theme nowadays it is the last thing I would use. Your suggestions are appreciated, but as mentioned above, and I cannot stress this enough, the basis of this map is over three years old and I honestly have no intention of working on it ever again! If I was to work on a multiplayer map now, it'd be a completely new one. :)

I,m with ya on the old stick in the mudd, ,me too heh.
But there is some cool things in the "new" engine to recreate mappage.
UT-Unreal is still very powerfull though not just eye candy mentality as of alot of ut2003 kids brought to think is good.
Keepa mappin, try one with ut2004 not too bad ,an "AS"- map could easily be a single player level as well.
Besides people like you actual know the editor making single player maps, unlike all these (just graphics) mappers.
I,ll temp ya,they have a "flying path nodes" now and a door actor so your bots wont keep running into the closed door for a weapon. And they have allmost all the pawn monters, and much versatility with new editor.
Oh,NaPali was and are some of the best maps made to date.
All of what god___am said but add some sort of walk way sidewalk looking things and add some bridges up above to weed your way up and around.
all "terraedit" is a good blank sheet to add to.!

Well I think 8 is a bit optimistic for this map. It's basically a box with a few raised sections of terrain that break up the whole map into canyon's?

It looks ok for what it is. The lighting is sourced from torches and some ambiant light. There are also some sounds like animal noises and such that are nice, but I thought the water sounds seemed strange seeing as there is no water?

No z axis other than on top of some of the raised sections (which you need a translocator to reach unfortunatly) and repetitive look over all makes game play kind of boring. The bots do ok but its not asking much of them.

Add some z axis play and maybe some tunnels going through the raised sections. Some water would have been nice too to help with audio clues. Placing a power up in a central area where it can be seen from many of the paths would be good too....gl
