It was long ago I enjoyed weird things as much as I enjoyed "playing" this map. Lyndon has tried to create something different and has succeeded giving us a delightful product.
Do not try to play this map. Just watch, listen and feel it for the first ten rounds. Then, configure in 6 bots and let go.
The map is humorous, irritating and beautiful. All this with fast fluctuation. After two hours against bots I was still taking wrong routes just because the scene was there more pleasing.
Although the map is winding, Lyndon has succeeded to keep the poly count down enough. There are some 180..200 poly spots occasionally but these are really rare.
The map is fully playable even with the slower gadgets. There was no conspicuous BSP errors or locking geometry. All 18 player starts seemed ta be flawlessly arranged. Pretty well for such a cramped map.
Configuring bot support for a map being as complex as this one is very difficult. Lyndon has succeeded to make it almost there.
However, if a bot falls into the ocean it has very little chances to get out of there because there is no pathing in water. Unfortunately the bots seemed to be passionate bathers.
The map also lacks defense points. There was only one assigned for red team. As the map is very complex, the bots tend to make wrong decisions about defending.
On the other hand, Lyndon did place the alternate paths in there. They are also correctly configured making the bots very inestimable.
The bots did make captures. Just do not wait too much of the bots that are bathing.... they will bath there just a little bit longer....
The map is made of anti-flow material. It contains each and every thinkable obstacle for a good flow.
Think You could jump to the nearby ledge? No, You can't because You just banged Your head to the roof. The ledges are also very narrow so You can't strafe no matter how much You would like to do it.
There are also innumerable amount of dead ends. If this wouldn't be part of the atmosphere, it could easily have flushed the map down the toilet.
Ehhh... even the REDEEMER on a cramped map like this. And, the bots WILL use it. How in earth could they survive after launching it. There is plenty of health, ammo and weapons. Just way too much for my taste. Then again, the substance of this map would not support minimal item count.
This is another example on how to use the textures in a crooked way. Apparently Lyndon did not read the names, stating "floor", "wall" etc... He just used the textures and he did it well.
There are many misalignments. However, they seem to be there in purpose. For example, using green wet rock texture as three leaves would not pop out of my head during this century.
While other make cubes Lyndon is subtracting hexagons and pentagons. The hexagon is the main shape in the map. It is almost another theme.
Unreal is not for daytime scenes. However, Lyndon did all that he could to make it look better. This one is very good with sunny feeling. The sun is missing though.
Ambient sound is supportive to the theme. Missing music is a minus especially because Lyndon did not specify a silent track. Actually the map does not need music, the ambient sounds are "musical" enough.
If You don't have this map already, You should go and get it. If anything else the map has a pleasing atmosphere and it gives You plenty of opportunities for a good laugh.
