DM-UTCP-Kukulcan is a stepped pyramid with a classic Aztec look. It plays well with 5-10, and has a trick or two.
This is one of the better pyramid maps that I've come across. Not only does the outside of the pyramid look nice, but the inside has more to offer than the overly-done sconces, and urns. The framerates are good, because the author, Stan "Coldsteel" Stewart, is experienced in using line of sight, and detailed textures for a fuller look without overdoing the polys. There are some z-axis spots on the map, an elevated rocket launcher site that gets very busy, and a few places to catch your breath for a very brief moment.
It appears the Ancient textures were used for a lot of this creation, along with some wood for beams. There's an empty tomb, made of pure gold that holds one goodie, and a water god offering up an item as well. Triggers near these spots will cause the floor to open up and an unsuspecting person can fall to their death on some nasty spikes. A cloud texture must have been adjusted to ultra-low detail to speed up framerates, because of its poor resolution.
The bots did fine, except I noticed one churning its feet, going nowhere on some elevated beams. Once another bot came into view, it stopped its aerobic workout and proceeded to do battle once again. The item placement was planned out well: I had fun trying to stay alive while looking for some firepower.
The lighting helped to accent the place. There are lots of colored lights such as the reddish torch lighting, and some greens and blues to change the look of the textures. Ambient sounds were added, mover sounds and music.
