DM-Torus is very simply a solid arena DM set in a Skaarj ship. It greatly resembles Morbias, Healpod, Fractal, or any one of many circular, 2 level DM's out there. I don't think this level was meant to be much more than it is, but there are a few bright spots worth mentioning.
In the center of the arena, there's a laser with a pit below it and some trap doors. The trigger is on the upper level on the inner ring. When activated, the doors quickly snap shut and a laser fires into the pit through an opening. It's an effective trap like the one in Healpod or Fractal and fortunately the author offered some sort of temptation to go down there, the shieldbelt as well as a jumppad out. In gameplay the bots didn't use it much though, so while it's a nice feature and surely spruces up this level, it just isn't much.
The teleporters in this map are done quite well and provide a quick way from the lower level's outer ring to the upper level. In true arena style there's always a way out, no matter where you're at. This helps the flow quite a bit. Bots work just as they should and they know their way around.
Despite my bias against the skaarj texture set (bad memories in the mothership man...) I have to say that this map is well constructed and textured. The outer windows are particularly nice. There's also forcefields and warp tunnels throughout, in a true Skarrj architectural style.
If you're looking for a solid arena DM, then look no further. It's right here. But with so many other maps using this same arena design, there is nothing that quite stands out above the rest.
