DM-TimeRip is a gimmicky map by the author(s) Simon West-Bulford (EZkeel) that needs at least 16 players if you ever want to get acquainted. It's really two separate maps where you warp back and forth from one time period to another. The place has a dull, murkiness to it, and the framerates suffer.
The map has an ancient ruins look to it, with sniper towers at the corners to scope out a victim. Trouble isÖthe polys go over 500 when you're on the towers. When you're at ground level the polys aren't all that bad, but the place is very open and the UT engine is attempting to draw a lot of geometry. There are roots growing here and there, which attests to the fact that the place is abandoned, plus bits and pieces of stone has come crashing down over time. There is a gimmick button to launch a craft overhead, and warp zones are labeled so you know what time period you're existing in.
Besides the roots growing on the walls, there are evil faces on pillars, which also give you some z-axis spots. Stone floors, green water, and some custom textures adorn the place.
The bots did pretty well, but I saw one getting stuck in a warp zone. It got caught between two sheets it was trying to run through, and continued going back and forth for the rest of the match. The item placement was okay in places such as long-ranged weapons in the sniper towers, but a bio rifle had me a little irked when I spawned as it was useless at long range.
The lighting came from the floor, from the sky, and a couple of nice generator gadgets also threw off some light. No music, but many sounds to listen to.
