DM-StreetWar is just that: fighting in the streets. The author, Tom Browett, is new to mapping, so there is room for improvement.

Buildings of various sizes run along the central street, one with a garden, one with a swimming pool. A few buildings can be entered, and some rooftops can be breached. You can warp to a roof, wind around fences, or try your luck inside with close-up mania on this retched city block.

The buildings, for the most part, are brick. Fences and a shed are made from wood, rooftops are tiled, and a street with a centerline divides the map. A starry sky with reddish clouds flows overhead, passing by this community that's walled in. Banners looked out of place with the realistic theme.

The bots did pretty well. I saw a bot sticking on a steep rooftop for a bit, but they use the warp zone fine, and they do most of what they should do. They use the rooftops to their advantage, and if you're in the middle of the road, you can expect to get hit quite often by flying bullets. I didn't see them making the leap over a lowed fence; a broken path is to blame. The item placement was pretty good, not too much wrong here except there is no bot support for some roof items.

The lighting was okay. I noticed some places that were lit up wrong, so some improvement could be made here. Not much in the way of sound, except for some music.

~End of Review~

For the author: When you go to all the trouble to make a map that looks realistic, try not to throw banners on the walls. This stands out like a sore thumb. The fence textures got a little old after awhile: maybe use a variety of textures, even two types would have been better. You can slow down the clouds if you want by changing the vpan/upan speeds. I like to check both vpan and upan to make the sky pass by diagonally. Then I set these two at different rates so the clouds look more natural. Try to pay close attention to light sources. Ask yourself what is doing the lighting on this part of the map and that part. If you go to "View" and pick the show paths option, you can check your bot paths. You would have seen the broken path at the fence in the back yard where it was lowered.
