DM-So_ForestFight | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-so_forestfight.zip | Author | Stephen R. Owens | Gametype | UT Deathmatch | Date Added | 09-20-2001 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 1.41 mb | Player Count | 8-20 | Map Description | DM-so_ForestFight is a large mostly outdoor map and is very fun to play with a large group of friends. The screenshots do not do this map justice for there are many areas not shown in the screenshots. With only three screen shots I could not show everything but I tried to give you a little bit of a taste. This was my very first UT level so I was just learning how to use Unreal ED. There are good bot paths so if you prefer to play and have fun by yourself you can. This map uses custom textures. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 3 | Overall Rating | -- |

Doing justice to the author by uploading some screenies, i propmtly played this map (and the ***meal one too).
Not very far from what i thought (unfortunately), this is a below average map. You get a BIG (really) outdoor scenario at night, with a pseudo-forest in about 1/3 of the map. The map has some good-looking lamps scattered around, some weird but novel deco pieces (like a water-deco-thingy at the lake near the waterfall), and some cubes thrown here and there with rock textures simulating boulders.
There are some SP flash-thingys (the name i can't remember) from U1 (why, really?). The item placement is what you get: a few weapons here and there with 2 ammo sets near, and health (3 medkits near?!).
For a first map it is ok, but you'll quickly loose interest in it if you're a TOURNEY player. Commendable is the use of some custom textures (not saying they are good).
| XepptizZ 10-21-2003 07:27 PM MDT | Rating: 2 | | The level is mostly decorated with cubes. The "forest" is a room with tree textures. You've just gotta improve a lot. More than I wish to type. But next time don't do rocky landscapes. First learn the basics with buildings. And The SO in front of the name's a bit unpro like.Than again the level is unpro. What I do wanna say befor I submit is that for the leaves of trees, sheets are a lot better than spheres.
Better luck NXT time.
