Uno, Dos, Tres, Watch me now!
Atlast this map has found it's way into the Review database, which means *SHAZAM!* a long over due review for the last winner of the "Name That Bot" entry, namely FireFly ond his fly map DM-Quatro Sarting with a well realized skybox, this Deathmatch map is a three tiered semi-rectangular layout with poly saving ramps and generous amounts of trim. Upwards mobility is hampered by the lack of lifts, however a fine looking pair of Teleport pods help conectivity across the 8-ball/googun diagonal slope. Pulling players downwards, Death-From-Above looms large with the triple threat lure of Armor/Shield Belt/Thigh Pads in the tighter confines of the lowest floor. Fun: Check box "YES". Playability: Great FPS and gaming goodness. A secret or two might have added the return factor thou hardcore DMers will find Quatro a four course meaty meal not requiring any desert.
Bots: With a recommended load of 2-4, 7 player starts will hamper larger loads.
Flow: Not a hard map to navagate with only a couple minor obstructions and snag prone square tooth wall geomentry.
Items: The three major exceptions would be the Redeemer, UDamage and Invisibility. While the Redeemer may have been an instrument of overkill, the UDamage Invisibility would have worked well in the item scarce upper area. Talking of upper areas, any hopes of snipers winning will be dashed by the limited scope time available.
Theme: Just another techno warehouse devoid of any purpose other than making gibs. Good continuity makes up for the failed sense of place.
Architecture: Without any Movers the map feels lifeless. General Ued construction is superb with a excellent use of the three primary non, semi and solid brushes. While the map is properly zoned, without ZoneInfo actors, TeamDeathmatch will suffer the neglect. Lighting: The mono-chromatic look is back. Sourcing fits adaquatly with more than enough light to frag.
Textures: Consisting mainly of SGTech1, non-Bonus Pack players need not beware as the zip kindy includes ALL neccassary files.
Sound: The music "Fith" from Unreal compliments gameplay with a few well placed ambients.
With so many L7 newbie maps filling up the NC database, it is a joy to play a map whose corners are well rounded by the constant flow of gibs. My only concern is the tendancy to flak camp the Shield Belt to an easy win over hapless bots. Of course lobbing a few potato mashing rockets will turn tunnel spammers to spud. All-in-all, DM-Quatro is technically clean and slides its way into the better than above average quality slot in this reviewer's opinion. Only the download size will keep it off slower servers but should be no reason to download your own copy today.

| Deathwing | Rating: 8.5 | | Hell yeah! Me likes very much.
| Ictus | Rating: 7 | | just take a look at lighting and how light sources were used? very newbieish quality. 7
| David 'DAVIDM' Münnich | Rating: 6 | | -6- no layout isn't good, lighting/textures are horrible, some architecture is gay
| Twrecks | Rating: 10 | | There seems to be a gap between fact and preference. Don't worry Ictus/nobody, Abberence is a shoe in for MOTM.
| somebody | Rating: 7.5 | | you think I posted that just to lower the score? wtf. i gave this a 7.5 this time to make up for posting 2 things. i only said light source usage was newbie, not the whole thing.
| Ebola | Rating: 8 | | FireFly has been mapping longer than Ictus/nobody/somebody has been. I've been reviewing longer than Ictus/nobody/somebody has been mapping. "Newbie" lighting and "subtle" lighting are two seperate things. Learn the difference before spamming your personal viewpoints and representing them as "fact."
| Geddy Lee | Rating: 4 | | There was nothing of interest that made me want to continue playing this map for more than one minute. The layout is plain and starel...and everything is evenly balanced in a map fit for nothing more than a nice walkway that I would avoid at all costs. In any case- I gave it a 4.
| Agent X | Rating: 8 | | Eh, gameplay isn't that bad. Just make the gameplay flak or rocket based. The shock whore combo is overpowered to base gameplay on.

But you haven't been around as long as I have. I kinda liked the map, a little dark in places, but was decent, compared to some maps out there that got way too high of a rating.
| [--x--]LurkerBot | Rating: 6.5 | | not zesty. -6.5-
| Orbi1 | Rating: 10 | | Rips! Better than some Epic maps.
| ARMAFUKINGEDON | Rating: 8 | | DAMN GOOD MAP IM WORKING ON MY FIRST MAP IF IT COMES OUT HALF AS GOOD AS THIS I'LL BE WELL CHUFFED
| MrPutz 08-15-2004 02:56 AM MDT | Rating: 9.5 | | Oh yeah, yeah! Nice trim job. Sweet.
