DM-Q3vsut is a medium-sized map updated by the author Mike "HOLLYWOOD" Hamper. From the looks of the level, I would say that Mike is new to mapping. This map has no theme, other than, shoot first and ask questions later.
The architecture is very simple: simple shapes, with some stairs to break up the monotony. The centralized lava room has a series of cubes and beams for you to hop around on, but this setup becomes a pain since most of the action occurs here. This lava room also has all the good stuff in it, shieldbelt, etc., and the bad stuff: poly counts over 200 if you're on the narrow catwalk looking down at the action.
The texturing is very simple: mostly stone walls and some base textures for contrast. Items such as a Nali statue and a globe hanging in mid-air are a mark of a newbie unsure about what to do to spruce up the build.
The nice thing about this map is that the bots do really well navigating their surroundings. I was pleasantly surprised to see them hopping about in the lava room, and storming up and down the narrow hallways. But the author inadvertently gave the bots an advantage by creating a crush mover that will only harm you or I, not a bot. The masher is set to 'crush when encroached' but no damage was specified, so the bots are unaffected, while the rest of us become mashed meat. Teleporters are everywhere, in a vain attempt to cover up the map's connectivity flaws.
The lighting does nothing to help this DM map out, and sounds are conspicuously absent. No CD music, no torch sounds, no mover sounds, nothing. Item placement puts the final nail in the coffin with a redeemer in such close quarters, and a sniper rifle that will never see its true potential.
