DM-Q2DM8Öthe name says it allÖI think? Anyway, this map has some Quake texturing, lots of z-axis spots, and is designed for 8-14.
I kind of like this one. It's not extremely complex, not overly simple, just about right. There are quite a few bevels here and there, perhaps too many stairs, a conveyor system and a looping lift if you're fast enough to make use of it. I had a good time dodging attacks by ducking behind crates, or changing floors very quickly with a jump; but my framerates suffered sometimes from some open spaces and colored lighting.
The author, James "VT|CreepingDeath" Morgan, did a good job keeping with an industrial warehouse theme, due in part to the Quake texturing. The entire place had a heavy look to it, as if built from scrap metal from army tanks. Smooth, modern panels were also used, contrasting with the rough, rusted metal.
The bots were pissing me off, which is a good thing. I was finally able to make a comeback after I learned the item placement. There seems to be a lot of flak canons strung about, so if this is your favorite weapon, you'll get plenty of opportunities to exploit it. As a whole, the item placement was pretty solid.
The lighting was a mix of colorful reds/oranges and blues, which were set apart from the white light that dominated the map. There are a few dark hiding spots for sneak attacks, and all the light is appropriate to their respective source. There's music and lots of sounds.
