In Short: The map is simple with a bare minimum of visuals and a gameplay to match.
The theme appears to be a space station although there are no major details to tell you this there apart from textures. There is a lack of sourced lighting - it gives the feeling that the author simply slapped lights on because he had to. The textures might as well have been set on unlit - at least the map is bright. The skybox is rather bland because the author used only a star texture. Unfortunately the rest of the map is similiar to the skybox, with an obvious lack of trim. Texture alignment isn’t bad - it’s not there at all. The author describes gameplay as intense, and this is true... its tiny, cramped, tight and somewhat spammy. Gameplay includes 2 tiers of z-axis in the form of a few walkways. This map is very hardcore - that is to say it relies soley on the gameplay of the game itself and is very simple. The map is in the same catagory as Thorns and AndAction - if you like those maps, youll like this too. The general build of the level is very simple - Boxy and Bad. There are no details, and no use of expertise in this level. To sum it up, its a couple of subtracted boxes with computer panel textures. What is done is pretty clean, but with no skill shown. There’s no sound, though there is original music. There’s no real theme either, so I can’t judge wither the music suits the map. I’m sure this was a case of poor effort, because the map could be have been at least average with more rooms, more eye-candy and some better lighting. However as it is now it’s an eyesore and a simple playing one at that. |

| buzard 08-03-2003 01:46 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | How quick they forget! This was done about 2 years ago as part of the "5 box" UT map contest. You could only use 5 boxes including the main box the level is in. Considering the limitations this was one of the better levels. 3 on 3 play is quite nice! There is just enough objects to let you weave through them to block shots from the enemy. If you can get the flag and get to the front of the raised catwalk you can just jump into the opening in the center wall.
For the design constraints placed on the design this is a pretty good map!
