Wow. That word sums up this map by Olav. Everything about it is flawless, except perhaps the name, which is ill-suited to the map. Since Q3A and UT are both competing for the top spot in the FPS world, it's not surprising the the Unreal community has seen so many Quake-like maps spring up everywhere, unfortunately, not too many of these conversions work due to the high poly count of the curved surfaces in Q3. This map has managed to keep the surfaces and archways smooth, yet maintain one of the highest frame rates I have seen in the game.

The map uses Akuma's Quake textures (as seen in the excellent DM-Brutality][) and draws inspiration from Q3DM7 (Which I believe was also in the Q3a demo). The overall look and feel of the map was very authentic, and the attention to detail is impeccable. The architecture, lighting and overall build quality are very professional, use of coloured lighting is very subtle, and the map doesn't fall into dark gloominess like other crossover attempts have. The texturing is very nice and a refreshing change from the normal UT pace. Where the map shines brightest though, is the floorplan and general layout, there are no dead spots where you can safely hide out for a few seconds, and the flow and connectivity is amazing, everywhere is very open. The map manages to break the corridor-box model that a lot of mappers fall into, instead it is a convaluted, twisted, almost chaotic knot of hallways that transform into large rooms without you realising!

The bots are fantastic, they utilise the whole map and put up a very fast paced fight throughout, taking advantage of the many levels and heights, and generally catching you off guard whenever yo least expect it. Paranoia runs high :o). The weapon placement is just as good as the pathnoding, the missile launcher is right in the most critical point of the map, making it a risky grab. There isn't a shield belt or health keg that I found, which keeps health levels down, and makes the game a lot faster and more frantic, the placement of the sniper rifle is wonderfully hidden, and I only found it by accident!

To summarise, just in case you weren't paying attention, this is a fabulous map that should be on every server, and is a great testing ground for the Tremor mod! The only part of the map that is below standard is the sound effects, they are there, they do the job, but there is nothing groundbreaking. Every single component of the map is near perfect, and together, the whole is much more than the sum of the parts. I don't often feel this compelled to rate a map this highly, but it surprised even me!

I though this map was good, but not exactly deserving a 9.5. More than half the zip file was the texture set from Q3, which I've probably downloaded at least 4 times now... All in all a well done map, but if I wanted to play Q3, I'd play Q3.

This is my favorite map for UT. The author has done a fantastic job. Great frame rates, fantastic texturing and the bots are really life-like. Awesome map.

I've played a lot of q3 themed maps, while this map is solid I dont think it stands up to the likes of DM-Brutality, it has room to improve.

Not impressive to me

I loved the level! It was very fun and exciting! The title dosen't suit the game at ALL-don't judje a book by the cover. For some strange reason I find the level more enjoyable when it is played at breakfast time-(why??). I liked it, but it needed more z-axis and sniper posts. Bot pathing was just...OK

this map was pretty cool. the textures were pretty dull though. bot pathing was lame. they had a big tendency 2 camp on one of the corners of the level i have played better maps, namely dm- alienlife

Guile do I smell envy? C'mon, just cause it uses imported Quake textures doesnt make it Quake.

A superior map! Above and beyond almost any other map! My personal favorite DM map. Excellent music, speed, size, placement, bots, and design. No bugs.

I'll be the first to admit that this map in no way deserves a 9.5, but it also doesn't deserve a 0. Isn't there a review/comment scheme thats sposed to followed? It's just stupid giving a map thats actually quite good a score thats reserved for andACTION or whatever that stupid box is called. . .anyway i like this map, it's a little bit simple in parts and the lack of trim makes it a little dull and there was also plenty of great oppurtunities to have some excellent shadows in this level, but the lighting, texturing and architecture that have been done, are quite good. Some more sounds would help in the atmosphere department though.
